The Colgate Raiders and the Loyola-Maryland Greyhounds meet in Patriot League college basketball action from the Reitz Arena on Sunday afternoon.
The Colgate Raiders will try to maintain their spot atop the Patriot League standings, sitting at 11-2 in conference after a 4th straight win with a 79-63 win over Boston. Jordan Burns leads Colgate in scoring and assists with 15.3 points and 4.2 assists per game while Rapolas Ivanauskas has 13 points and Will Rayman is averaging 12 points and a team-high 8.7 rebounds per game this season. Nelly Cummings and Tucker Richardson each have double-digit scoring averages for Colgate this season. As a team, Colgate is averaging 75.2 points on 44.8% shooting from the field, 36.1% from behind the arc and 76.3% from the foul line while allowing opponents to average 68.1 points on 43.4% shooting from the field and 29.7% from behind the arc. Colgate is 9-5 straight up and 6-8 against the spread on the road this season.
The Loyola-Maryland Greyhounds will look to begin the climb up the Patriot League standings with a 4-9 conference record despite an 81-76 loss to American last time out. Andrew Kostecka leads the Greyhounds in scoring and rebounding with 21.2 points and 5.2 rebounds per game while Santi Aldama is the only other Loyola player to score in double figures with 10.5 points but in just 4 games. Isaiah Hart is averaging 9.4 points and a team-high 3.2 assists per game. As a team, Loyola-Maryland is averaging 73.5 points on 46.9% shooting from the field, 32.2% from behind the arc and 64.9% from the foul line while allowing opponents to average 75.2 points on 44.6% shooting from the field and 33.3% from 3-point range. Loyola-Maryland is 7-3 straight up and 5-3-1 against the spread on the road this season.
I want to give the points and Loyola-Maryland a look, but the problem for me is that Colgate is the better team with way more scoring depth than what the Greyhounds bring to the game. Colgate is the team to beat in the Patriot League right now and I just don’t think that the Greyhounds have what it takes to keep up here. I’ll lay the points with Colgate on the road here.
