Loyola Marymount Lions +12 O/U: 139
The BYU Cougars and the Loyola Marymount Lions meet in college basketball action from Gersten Pavilion on Thursday.
BYU enters here at 19-7 on the year. The Cougars are on a four-game winning streak right now, taking out Pepperdine, Saint Mary’s, Portland and San Francisco in that quartet.
In the win over the Dons, BYU’s Yoeli Childs led the team on 32 points with six rebounds and two assists. Both TJ Haws and Jake Toolson each had 13 points and seven assists there, and combined for nine rebounds.
Over on the LMU side, they’re 8-16 this year. The Lions have lost four straight games, falling to Saint Mary’s, Pacific, Pepperdine and Gonzaga in succession during that stretch of outings.
In the loss to the Bulldogs, LMU’s Eli Scott led the team on 15 points, four assists and three rebounds. Ivan Alipiev was the only other Lions player in double-digits there with 12 points, two rebounds and two assists.
The Lions are 4-1 ATS in their last five after a straight-up loss and 6-14 ATS in their last 20 after an ATS win. The over is 6-1 in LMU’s last seven after an ATS win as well.
Meanwhile, the Cougars are 5-0 ATS in their last five Thursday games and 12-4 ATS in their last 16 overall. BYU is 7-2 ATS in their last nine as a favorite and the over is 5-2 in their last seven Thursday games.
BYU didn’t really have many issues versus a good Dons team their last time out, jumping to a 44-25 edge at halftime and cruising the rest of the way. That makes five straight games where the Cougars have notched at least 81 points.
As for LMU, they haven’t been as proficient on offense lately, with 67 or fewer scored in each of their last four. I’m just going to take the Cougars here and not overthink things.
