The UMBC Retrievers hit the road for a matchup with the LSU Tigers.  The Retrievers are (4-0), having just beat a non-division I school, Georgian Court 60-48.  The Tigers are coming off a 75-65 win over Nicholls State, to improve their record to (2-1).

Int he win over Georgian Court, UMBC was guided by Brandon Horvath with a double-double.  Horvath totaled 13 points and 12 rebounds in the game.  Darnell Rogers added a career high 23 points in the win.  UMBC shot 34% from the floor and 32% from distance.  The Retrievers recorded 10 steal defensively, while forcing 22 turnovers.  UMBC out rebounded Georgian Court 38 to 34.

In the Tigers win over Nicholls State, LSU was led by Skylar Mays.  Mays scored 18 points and brought down 8 rebounds, while notching 4 steals on defense.  LSU shot 50% from the floor and a poor 17% from 3-point range.  The Tigers smoked Nicholls State on the glass, out rebounding them 45 to 27.  LSU got sloppy in the win, committing 25 turnovers compared to Nicholls State's 20.

Recent Betting Trends:

Retrievers are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 non-conference games.

Retrievers are 19-8 ATS in their last 27 games following a SU win.

The under is 4-1 in Retrievers last 5 overall.

Tigers are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 home games.

Tigers are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 non-conference games.

The under is 5-2 in Tigers last 7 home games.

The Tigers have not been good ATS against non-conference opponents, especially at home.  LSU dropped out of the top 25 rankings this week.  UMBC is 4-0, but only has 1 true win over a division I opponent, that was Florida Gulf Coast.  It is hard to get a read on this team, having played 3 games against non-division I institutions.  Based on throwing those stats out the window, UMBC scored 65 points against FGCU.  LSU has not won by 17 points in their 2 wins.  I'm going to take UMBC and the points and hope they are better then their strength of schedule thus far.  Final score prediction, LSU wins and UMBC covers, 75-62.
