The Niagara Purple Eagles faceoff with the Manhattan Jaspers in Saturday MAAC college basketball.
The Niagara Purple Eagles fell to Albany 79-74 as a six point home favorite going in to their conference opener. Niagara trailed by eleven at the halfway point but couldn’t come all the way back with 36.7% shooting to lean on.
Marcus Hammond was the top option for the Purple Eagles with 16 points on 5-8 accuracy and 3-4 at the line followed by Raheem Solomon with 15 points on 5-13 shooting and 3-3 at the stripe.
Niagara received 14 points, three yanks and five helpers on 3-10 from the field ad 8-9 at the foul line followed by Marvin Prochet with 13 points and nine rebounds on 4-9 accuracy.
The Manhattan Jaspers never found their offense in a 63-59 loss to Quinnipiac as a four point home dog.
Manhattan held a slight 44.4%-43.4% shooting edge with eight more looks at the basket but were outscored 11-5 at the line.
Tykei Greene paced the Jaspers attack with 13 points and seven rebounds on 5-10 marksmanship with Thomas Capuano tossing in another 13 points on 5-8 from the field.
Manhattan received seven points from Nehemiah Mack along with five helpers followed by Ebube Ebube with five points and nine rebounds.

Niagara is the better team but I’ll back the half court attack of Manhattan at home…
