Siena at Manhattan
|Date & Time||Friday February 8, 2019, 7:00 PM (EST)|
New York, New York (Bronx)
Manhattan Jaspers +2.5 O/U: 117
The Siena Saints and the Manhattan Jaspers will meet up in college basketball activity on Friday.
Siena rolls into this one at 11-12 on the year so far. The Saints have won five of their last six games, taking out Niagara, Fairfield, Manhattan, Iona and Fairfield again in that time.
In the win over the Stags, Siena’s lead scorer was Evan Fisher with 18 points and four rebounds. Also in double-figures for the Saints there were Jalen Picket (13 points; five rebounds) and Kevin Degnan (10 points; five rebounds).
Over on the Manhattan side, they’re 7-16 this year. Since falling to Siena, the Jaspers have logged three consecutive wins over Fairfield, Saint Peter’s and Rider.
In the win over the Broncs, Manhattan’s Tyler Reynolds led the team on 24 points with seven rebounds and one assist. Samir Stewart chipped in 19 points and five boards for the Jaspers in that one, and Ebube Ebube had 10 points with five rebounds.
The Saints are 5-1 ATS in their last six overall and 5-1 ATS in their last six versus the MAA. Siena is 5-2 ATS in their last seven road games and 1-4 ATS in their last five Friday games.
Meanwhile, the Jaspers are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven overall. Manhattan is 5-2 ATS in their last seven versus the MAA and the under is 8-2 in the last 10 Friday games.
If you like low-scoring, defense-heavy basketball, this Siena team is your dream come true right now. The Saints haven’t hit 67 points since a win over Marist on January 11, but they’re still winning games recently.
The last time these teams met up was a 53-40 Siena home win, and I think the Saints will be able to travel and play well here as well. Even though Manhattan has had a couple of solid outings lately, I’m going to stick with the Saints; they’re better ATS in most facets right now.
Also, it’s worth noting that the O/U here is about as low as you’ll find it anywhere at this level. It might be fun to take the over and root these teams on, but this could very easily be a 50-something to 50-something points total as well.
