Marist Red Foxes -3.5 O/U: 141
The Fairfield Stags and the Marist Red Foxes will meet up on the college basketball court Saturday.
Fairfield tumbles into this one with a 6-16 record on the season. The Stags have lost five of their last six games, dropping to Quinnipiac, Monmouth, Canisius, Siena and Manhattan during that stretch.
In the loss to the Jaspers, Fairfield’s lead scorer was Jonathan Kasibabu, with nine points and seven rebounds. Landon Taliaferro tallied eight points in that one, but no Stag was in double-figures in any category.
Over on the Marist side, they’re 8-13 on the year. The Foxes fell in consecutive games to Quinnipiac 92-78 and Rider 86-85, but got a 78-74 win over Iona in their last appearance Thursday.
In the win over the Gaels, Marist’s Isaiah Lamb toped the scorers with 15 points and two rebounds. Darius Hines and Aleksandar Dozic each bagged 14 points for the Foxes in that one, combining for 10 rebounds and four assists.
The Stags are 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven overall and 1-5-1 ATS in their last seven versus the MAA. Fairfield is 0-3-1 ATS in their last four road games and the under is 5-0 in their last five overall.
Meanwhile, the Foxes are 1-4 ATS in the last five after an ATS win and 0-5 ATS in their last five Saturday games. Marist is 0-5 ATS in the last five after a straight-up win and the over is 4-1 in their last five home games.
Fairfield’s 62-49 loss to a bad Jaspers team was pretty ugly from front to back. It was another bad scoring outing for the Stags, who managed just 48 against Siena on January 24.
Marist had their own scoring slump across a four-game stretch last month, but in their last three the Foxes have bagged at least 78 points in each. I’m not thrilled about Marist’s defense lately, but they should have plenty of ammo to keep in front of the Stags here. I’m sticking with the Foxes.
