The Niagara Purple Eagles will travel to McCann Arena to take on the Marist Red Foxes this Friday night in College Basketball action.

The Niagara Purple Eagles had their 2-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 11-12 (4-6 MAAC) on the season after being defeated by the Quinnipiac Bobcats, 84-73, this past Sunday. Niagara struggled offensively against the Bobcats defense and couldn’t fight back after a 15-4 Quinnipiac run gave the Bobcats a 74-63 lead with 3:47 left in regulation. Niagara shot just 42.2% from the field and 35.7% from beyond the arc in the loss. Leading the way for the Keleaf Tate who had 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals.

On the season, Niagara is averaging 73.1 ppg on 41.7% shooting from the field. The Purple Eagles are averaging 8.0 three-pointers per game on 34.5% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Niagara has been led by Marvin Prochet (17.8 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 1.4 apg), James Towns (11.8 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 4.0 apg), Dominic Robb (10.3 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 2.4 bpg), and Keleaf Tate (8.7 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 1.3 apg).

Defensively, Niagara is allowing their opponents to average 75.2 ppg on 46.0% shooting from the field. The Purple Eagles have a rebound margin of -0.2 and a turnover margin of 0.2.

The Marist Red Foxes improved to 9-14 (4-7 MAAC) on the season after defeating the Canisius Golden Griffins, 78-71 in OT, this past Monday. Marist fought back from a 61-48 deficit with 5:56 left in regulation to force OT and was able to pull away for the victory after taking a 73-67 lead with :39 seconds left in overtime. Marist shot 48.2% from the field and 88.9% from the FT-line in the victory. Leading the way for the Red Foxes was Aleksandar Dozic who had 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 6 assists.

On the season, Marist is averaging 68.7 ppg on 45.5% shooting from the field. The Red Foxes are averaging 8.3 three-pointers per game on 37.4% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Marist has been led by Brian Parker (14.6 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 3.4 apg), Ryan Funk (11.2 ppg, 3.2 rpg), Isaiah Lamb (8.4 ppg, 4.8 rpg), and David Knudsen (8.0 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 1.0 apg).

Defensively, Marist is allowing their opponents to average 70.6 ppg on 44.3% shooting from the field. The Red Foxes have a rebound margin of -2.0 and a turnover margin of 0.2.

The Purple Eagles are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 Friday games, however, just 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games following a double-digit loss at home. The Red Foxes are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 home games and just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following a ATS win.

Niagara has won 3 of their last 5 games and currently rank 178th in scoring offense, 265th in scoring defense, and 295th in defensive FG%.

Marist has lost 3 of their last 5 games and currently rank 283rd in scoring offense, 136th in FG%, and 161st in scoring defense.

Niagara is a decent team at home, however, it’s been a struggle for the Purple Eagles on the road this season as they currently are just 1-3 in road conference games this season. Marist has been playing well defensively as of late and as I think their three-point shooting will find some success at home agianst the Purple Eagles defense, I’m taking Marist to cover this small home spread.

Pick:
Marist Red Foxes -4
