The Line: Marist Red Foxes +9 -- Over/Under:
The Rider Broncs will travel to McCann Arena to take on the Marist Red Foxes this Saturday night in College Basketball action.
The Rider Broncs won their 7th straight game and improved to 18-7 (11-2 MAAC) on the season after defeating the Manhattan Jaspers, 77-73, this past Thursday. Rider trailed by a 37-30 margin at halftime however, was outstanding offensively in the 2nd half and held onto the victory late after ta king a 64-56 lead with 6:14 left in regulation. Rider shot 48.1% from the field and outrebounded Marist by a 42-27 margin in the victory. Leading the way for the Broncs was Dimencio Vaughn who had 223 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 blocks, and 3 steals. On the season, Rider is averaging 80.9 ppg on 46.0% shooting from the field. The Broncs are averaging 7.8 three-pointers per game on 36.5% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Rider has been led by Dimencio Vaughn (14.8 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 1.0 apg, 1.7 spg), Jordan Allen (13.6 ppg, 3.6 rpg), Frederick Scott (13.5 ppg, 7.1 rpg), and Stevie Jordan (12.8 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 6.0 apg, 1.7 spg). Defensively, Rider is allowing their opponents to average 76.6 ppg on 43.7% shooting from the field. The Broncs have a rebound margin of 4.0 and a turnover margin of 1.3.
The Marist Red Foxes lost their 3rd straight game and dropped to 5-20 (3-10 MAAC) on the season after being defeated by the Saint Peter’s Peacocks, 70-66, this past Thursday. Marist led by 32-29 margin at halftime however, couldn’t fight back late after a turnover and Saint Peter’s three-pointer gave the Peacocks the lead for good with under a minute left to play. Marist allowed Saint Peter’s to shoot 42.6% from the field and 52.9% (9-17) from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Red Foxes was Brian Parker who had 12 points, 4 rebounds, and 9 assists. On the season, Marist is averaging 72.2 ppg on 44.6% shooting from the field. The Red Foxes are averaging 9.2 three-pointers per game on 35.3% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Marist has been led by Brian Parker (17.9 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 3.0 apg), David Knudsen (11.7 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 2.1 apg, 1.0 spg), Ryan Funk (10.7 ppg, 2.8 rpg), and Isaiah Lamb (8.4 ppg, 2.7 rpg). Defensively, Marist is allowing their opponents to average 80.9 ppg on 45.1% shooting from the field. The Red Foxes have a rebound margin of -3.4 and a turnover margin of -5.1.
The Broncs are 6-1-1 ATS in their last 8 road games and 9-4-1 ATS in their last 14 games overall. The Red Foxes are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games overall and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600.
Rider has won 11 of their last 12 games and has been led by their offense that ranks 38th in scoring offense and 116th in FG%. Marist has lost 7 of their last 8 games and has really struggled defensively as the Red Foxes rank just 329th in scoring defense, 305th in rebound margin, and 344th in turnover margin. Rider has been impressive ATS on the road as of late and although the Broncs had trouble offensively in their 60-57 victory over Marist a couple of weeks ago, I think Rider will be able to secure a double-digit road victory in this one. Take Rider to cover.
