The DePaul Blue Demons will travel to Fiserv Forum to take on the 12th ranked Marquette Golden Eagles this Wednesday night in College Basketball action.

The DePaul Blue Demons improved to 11-6 (3-3 Big East) on the season after defeating the Seton Hall Pirates, 97-93, this past Saturday. DePaul was outstanding on the offensive end and was able to hold off the Pirates for the victory after taking a 87-79 lead with just 3:29 left in regulation. DePaul shot 52.5% from the field, 54.5% from beyond the arc, and outrebounded Seton Hall by a 42-19 margin in the victory. Leading the way for the Blue Demons was Paul Reed who had a double-double with 21 points, 14 rebounds, 3 blocks, and an assist.

On the season, DePaul is averaging 77.6 ppg on 47.2% shooting from the field. The Blue Demons are averaging 6.6 three-pointers per game on 32.6% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, DePaul has been led by Max Strus (18.3 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 2.5 apg, 1.1 spg), Eli Cain (13.4 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 3.9 apg, 1.4 spg), Femi Olujobi (12.7 ppg, 5.1 rpg), and Paul Reed (10.8 ppg, 8.0 rpg, 1.1 apg, 1.2 bpg).

Defensively, DePaul is allowing their opponents to average 72.5 ppg on 44.0% shooting from the field. The Blue Demons have a rebound margin of 7.1 and a turnover margin of -0.2.

The 12th ranked Marquette Golden Eagles won their 5th straight game and improved to 16-3 (5-1 Big East) on the season after defeating the Providence Friars, 79-68, this past Sunday. Marquette trailed at halftime by a 33-25 margin, however, was outstanding on both ends of the court in the 2nd half and pulled away after taking a 72-71 lead with 2:40 left in regulation. Marquette shot 42.6% from the field & 45.5% shooting from beyond the arc in the victory. Leading the way for the Golden Eagles was Markus Howard who had 24 points, 9 rebounds, 3 assists, and a steal.

On the season, Marquette is averaging 79.3 ppg on 45.8% shooting from the field. The Golden Eagles are averaging 9.4 three-pointers per game on 38.7% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Marquette has been led by Markus Howard (24.4 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 4.1 apg, 1.1 spg), Sam Hauser (14.9 ppg, 6.9 rpg, 2.3 apg), Joey Hauser (10.4 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 2.3 apg), and Sacar Anim (7.6 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 1.2 apg).

Defensively, Marquette is allowing their opponents to average 68.9 ppg on 40.3% shooting from the field. The Golden Eagles have a rebound margin of 6.3 and a turnover margin of -1.6.

The Blue Demons are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 road games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. Big East opponents. The Golden Eagles are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 home games and 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games overall.

DePaul has won 3 of their last 4 games and although their defense can give up some points as the Blue Demons rank 212th in scoring defense, DePaul has been solid on the offensive end as they rank T-85th in scoring offense & 64th in FG%. Marquette has won 13 of their last 14 games and has been solid on both ends of the court this season as they rank 54th in scoring offense, 26th in 3P-FG%, and 40th in defensive FG%.

Marquette has been outstanding this season, especially at home, however, it’s important not to overlook this DePaul team who a dark-horse contender this season in the Big-East. DePaul has recently knocked off both St. John’s & Seton Hall on the road and although their defense scares me a bit against Markus Howard, I think the Blue Demons offense will be able to do enough to allow DePaul to cover with the points. Good Luck!

Pick:
DePaul Blue Demons +11
