Marquette was outstanding on the offensive end against the Butler defense and had no trouble securing the victory after an 8-0 Golden Eagles run gave Marquette a 61-45 lead with 7:07 left in regulation. St. John’s has lost 3 of their last 4 games and has been led by their offense that ranks 34th in scoring offense & 63rd in FG%. The Red Storm can give up some points as they rank just 242nd in scoring defense, however, have done a nice job forcing turnovers as they rank T-16th in steals per game and 6th in turnover margin.
Marquette has won 16 of their last 17 games and has one of the more explosive offenses in the Big East as the Golden Eagles rank 47th in scoring offense, 9th in 3P-FG%, and 6th in FT shooting. The Golden Eagles have also been great defensively as they currently rank 121st in scoring defense & 30th in defensive FG%.
Marquette only loss since late November came at the hands of St. John’s as they were dominated in an 89-69 defeat on the road, however, I think this game is going to be a different story as the Golden Eagles are a perfect 14-0 at Fiserv Forum this season. Marquette has one of the best players in the country in Markus Howard and as I haven’t been that impressive how St. John’s has looked in the month of January, I think Marquette does enough in this one to cover this mid-range spread. Good Luck.
