Sacar Anim added 11 points to round out the trio of double-digit scorers for Marquette in the loss, while Joseph Chartouny added 5 assists of his own and Theo John chipped in 8 points with 7 rebounds. Howard leads the Golden Eagles with an average of 24.6 points and 4.2 assists per game while Hauser leads Marquette in rebounding with 7 boards per game this season. As a team, Marquette is scoring 79 points per game on 46% shooting from the field, 39.5% from behind the arc and 77% from the foul line this season, the 8th-best free throw percentage in D-I this season.
Villanova is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 conference games and 41-19-1 ATS in their last 61 road games while the under is 15-6-2 in their last 23 games overall. Marquette is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall and 7-2 ATS in their last 9 home games while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games following a loss. Villanova is 9-4 ATS in the last 13 meetings between these two teams and 5-2 ATS in the last 7 meetings between these two teams at Marquette.
This has the potential to be one of the games of the day between the top two teams in the Big East. With that said, I’m so tempted to go with Villanova here, who has won 11 straight and just keeps finding ways to win games and have burned me more often than not when I go against the defending champions. However, the fact that Marquette is favored just goes to speak to how well the Golden Eagles have played this season. Marquette is 3-1 against other ranked opposition and are the better offensive team of the two here. Marquette’s advantage offensively should be enough to see the Golden Eagles win by a bucket, so I’ll lay the points with Marquette and kick back to watch what should be a fantastic game.
