Marshall Thundering Herd -9 O/U: 152.5
The Florida Atlantic Owls and the Marshall Thundering Herd will match up in college basketball activity on Thursday.
FAU enters this game on an 11-6 record so far. The Owls had consecutive wins going against Middle Tennessee and Old Dominion, but lost in their last outing Saturday versus Charlotte.
In their loss to the Niners, FAU’s Xavian Stapleton led the way on 17 points and five rebounds. Also in double-figures for the Owls in that one were Anthony Adger (15 points; five rebounds) and Michael Forrest (13 points).
Over on the Marshall side, they’re 10-6 this season. The Herd fell to Virginia on December 31, but since have beaten Old Dominion, Charlotte and Western Kentucky.
In the win over the Hilltoppers, Marshall’s Taevion Kinsey logged 23 points and seven rebounds to lead the team. Jon Elmore also had a nice outing for the Herd in that one, bagging 21 points, five assists and two rebounds.
FAU is 4-0 ATS in the last four following a straight-up loss and 4-0 ATS in their last four following an ATS loss. The Owls are 0-4 ATS in their last four road games versus a team with a winning home record and the under is 6-0 in their last six road games.
Meanwhile, Marshall is 5-2 ATS in their last seven versus CUSA and 1-4-1 ATS in the last six following an ATS loss. The Herd are 1-4 ATS in their last five overall and 1-5 ATS in the last six after a straight-up win.
FAU is a weird team this year if you look at their overall record. The Owls can stand tall against a big school like Illinois (who are admittedly a bad team, but still), then toss out a real stinker like the 65-60 loss to Charlotte.
Marshall seems more consistent this year, but they’re far from a proverbial slam dunk. With the line this thick I like the Owls to get in there and cover—so long as their offense decides to show up.
