The Marshall Thundering Herd host the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers in Saturday college basketball.
The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers fell to 1-1 in the CUSA after a narrow 69-66 defeat at Old Dominion as a 3.5 point underdog.
Western Kentucky held a slight 43.6%-40.9% shooting edge but the Monarchs prevailed with 13 offensive rebounds leading to eleven more shots.
Charles Bassey and Tavion Hollingsworth kept the Hilltoppers within striking distance with 19 points apiece with Bassey hauling in 12 rebounds.
Josh Anderson gave Western Kentucky 17 points followed by Jared Savage who contributed eight points and another six boards.
The Marshall Thundering Herd improved to 2-0 in the conference after squeezing by Charlotte 85-84 as a nine point road favorite.
Marshall couldn’t shake the stubborn 49ers with 45.2% shooting and 18 more looks being just enough to edge out the 54.5% accuracy of Charlotte.
CJ Burks carried the Thundering Herd with 25 points, four pulls and four helpers while Jon Elmore added16 points, three yanks and five assists.
Marshall saw 14 points and five boards from Tavion Kinsey followed by Jannson Williams with 13 points and six rebounds.
