The Chattanooga Mocs and the Mercer Bears will meet up on the college basketball circuit Saturday.

Chattanooga comes into this one at 12-16 on the season. The Mocs are 2-2 in their last four games, falling to UNCG and Samford while beating VMI and the Citadel in that span.

In the win over the Bulldogs, Chattanooga’s top scorer was David Jean-Baptiste with 16 points. Donovann Toatley added 15 points for the Mocs there, and Ramon Vila doubled up on 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Over on the Mercer side, they’re 10-17 this season. The Bears are 2-1 in the last three games, with a loss to East Tennessee State sandwiched between wins over WCU and Samford.

In the win over the Bulldogs, Mercer’s top scorer was Ross Cummings on 23 points and six rebounds. Ethan Stair doubled up for the Bears in that one, providing 15 points with 12 rebounds and one assist.

The Mocs are 17-35-1 ATS in the last 53 Saturday games and 19-40-1 ATS in their last 60 versus the Southern. Chattanooga is 1-3-1 ATS in the last five after a straight-up win and the under is 4-1 in their last five overall.

Meanwhile, Mercer is 1-5 ATS in their last six overall and 1-5 ATS in their last six versus the Southern. The Bears are 0-4 ATS in their last four home games and 4-1 ATS in their last five after a straight-up win.

Chattanooga has been pretty unpredictable on the scoreboard lately, as they’ve put up 65 points or fewer in three of their last five games. Mercer has had that same difficulty as well, and considering the Mocs eked out a 73-70 win at home the last time these teams met up, this one should be close as well. I’m going Mercer on the home push, though.

Mercer Bears -7.5
