Mercer Bears +4.5 O/U: 137.5
The East Tennessee State Buccaneers and the Mercer Bears will meet up in college basketball action on Saturday.
East Tennessee State marches in here with a 14-4 record overall. The Buccaneers have won their last six games, taking out Wyoming, Norfolk State, Furman, Samford, Chattanooga and the Citadel.
In the win over the Bulldogs, ETSU’s Daivien Williamson put up 24 points with three rebounds to lead the scoring. Jeromy Rodriguez doubled up with 10 points, 14 rebounds and four assists and Tray Boyd chipped in 16 points.
Over on the Mercer side, they’re currently 6-10 this season. Following three straight losses to Harvard, Furman and Wofford, the Bears got a win in their last game versus WCU.
In the win over the Catamounts, Mercer guard Ross Cummings had a great line with 36 points, four rebounds and two assists. Ethan Stair put up 14 points in that one, while Jaylen Stowe had 12 points with seven rebounds for the Bears.
ETSU is 22-4-1 ATS in their last 27 Saturday games and 15-5-2 ATS in their last 22 road games. The Buccaneers are 18-7-3 ATS in their last 28 following an ATS win and 33-15-3 ATS in their last 51 overall.
Meanwhile, the Bears are 4-1 ATS in their last five games following a straight-up win and 5-2 ATS in their last seven following an ATS loss. Mercer is 1-4 in their last five versus the Southern and the under is 5-2 in their last seven versus the Southern.
There’s not a whole lot to complain about when it comes to this ETSU win streak, though they could have made things more interesting with a better effort against a bad Illinois team in their last loss (73-55 way back on December 15).
On the other side, Mercer has some consistency issues to work out when it comes to offense, but they’ve put up solid points totals across their last pair of games.
All things considered however, I think ETSU holds the cards here.
