The Mercer Bears host the Georgia Southern Eagles in non-conference college basketball action.
The Mercer Bears have been in a bit of a funk with losses in three of four after falling 68-64 at Florida Atlantic on Wednesday. Mercer trailed by ten heading to intermission and a strong second half rally ran out of time with the Owls 44.4%-38.9% edge in marksmanship being the difference.
Jaylen Stowe topped a balanced Bears attack with 16 points and eight rebounds on 5-9 accuracy and 6-8 at the stripe with Ethan Stair adding 13 points and three yanks and five steals on 5-10 from the floor. Mercer received 12 points and five boards from Djordje Dimitrijevic on 5-16 from the field followed by a ten point, five board effort from Cory Kilby with ten points.
The Georgia Southern Eagles began the 2018-19 season with victories before a 100-70 loss at Arizona has the team looking at consecutive defeats. Georgia Southern was unable to recover from a 13 point deficit at the intermission with the Wildcats holding a 50.7%-39.1% shooting advantage.
Tookie Brown was the Eagles top offensive weapon with 17 points and four pulls on 5-9 marksmanship and 6-9 at the line with Daniel-Lee Jones Jr. tossing in eleven points on 4-7 accuracy. GSU received ten points and six boards from Simeon Carter followed by a nine point, seven rebound performance from Isaiah Carter.
