The Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons visit the Miami (OH) Redhawks in non-conference college basketball on Saturday.
The Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons have been heating up with wins in three of four after squeezing by visiting Akron 68-65 on Wednesday as a 3.5 point home dog. Purdue Fort Wayne nearly coughed up a 15 point halftime lead with 20 turnovers leading to 15 more Zips shots to make their 32.8% shooting compete with the Mastodons 46.9%.
Kason Harrell led all scorers with 24 points and four pulls on 8-14 accuracy and 6-10 at the line while John Konchar added 13 points, eleven rebounds, four assists and three steals for IPFW on 5-8 from the floor. Dylan Carl gave the Mastodons eight points and four boards followed by Dee Montgomery with another eight points and six rebounds.
The Miami (OH) Redhawks have been in a groove of late with wins in three of four after downing Wright State 65-62 Wednesday as a seven point road dog. Miami (OH) led 30-29 heading to the locker room with a 44.4%-41.7% shooting edge and six more shots being decisive.
Bam Bowman was the Redhawks only double digit scorer with 18 points and seven rebounds on 7-12 marksmanship including three makes from distance. Miami (OH) received nine points each from Dalonte Brown and Abdoulaye Harouna while Nike Sibande added seven boards and five assists on 3-12.
