The #10 Duke Blue Devils head to Michigan on Tuesday for a game against the #11 Michigan State Spartans in a game in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. In their last game, Duke defeated Winthrop by the core of 83-70. Matthew Hurt led the Blue Devils in points in the game with 20 while shooting 7 of 13 from the field and 4 of 6 from the free throw line. Vernon Carey Jr. led Duke in rebounds on the night, pulling in 10, with 3 coming offensively. Tre Jones led Duke in assists with 6 on the night while playing 37 minutes in the game.
With the win against Winthrop, Duke improved to 7-1 on the season and will be looking for a good showing against another ranked team in Michigan State. Vernon Carey Jr. is Duke’s leader in points per game as he has averaged 18.4 points per game on the season. Carey Jr. is also the Blue Devils leading rebounder and has averaged 9.5 per game on the year. Tre Jones leads Duke in assists per game with an average of 6.9.
The Michigan State Spartans welcome the Duke Blue Devils to town after winning their last game against UCLA by the score of 75-62. The Spartans were led in points by Cassius Winston who recorded 20 points in the game while shooting 7 of 17 from the field and 3 of 3 from the free throw line. Winston also led Michigan State in assists against UCLA as he recorded 4 while playing 35 minutes in the game. Xavier Tillman led Michigan State in rebounds in the game with 7, including 2 coming offensively.
With the win against UCLA, Michigan State is now 5-2 on the season and will be looking for another win against a tough Duke Blue Devils team. Cassius Winston has led Michigan State in points per game this season as he is averaging 17.9 per game. Winston also leads the Spartans in assists per game with an average of 6. Xavier Tillman leads Michigan State in rebounds per game and has pulled in an average of 10 per game.
Duke has scored an averaged of 83.8 points per game this season while allowing 64.8 points per game. Michigan State has scored 80.9 points per game while allowing 64.7 points per game. Both teams are 4-1 in their last 5 games. I am going to go with Duke in this one. Even though the game is being played at Michigan State, I believe the Blue Devils will be able to escape with a win in this one as their offense has been slightly better than Dukes on the season. This game will come down to the wire, but I believe the Blue Devils pull this one out. Duke wins 75-73 and beats the spread.
