Sweet 16 college basketball action pits the Michigan State Spartans against the LSU Tigers.

The Michigan State Spartans jumped to a 14 point lead heading to the intermission and were never challenged in routing Minnesota 70-50 in the second round of the NCAA’s.

Xavier Tillman topped the Spartans with 14 points and six boards while Cassius  Winston tossed in 13 points with four pulls and eight helpers.

The trio of Kenny Goins, Aaron Henry and Matt McQuaid gave Michigan State nine points apiece with a combined 19 rebounds.

The LSU Tigers punched their ticket to a spot in the Sweet 16 with a last second 69-67 victory versus the Maryland Terrapins as a three point favorite on Saturday.

Skylar Mays was the Tigers top weapon with 16 points and two steals with Naz Reid tossing in 13 points and snagging four boards.

LSU received 12 points and five helpers from Tremont Waters while Darius Days and Emmitt Williams netted ten and seven points with a combined eight rebounds.

LSU Tigers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. Big Ten and  are 4-9-1 ATS in their last 14 non-conference games and  are 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 neutral site games and  are 2-11-1 ATS in their last 14 Friday games.

Michigan State Spartans are 24-9 ATS in their last 33 games overall and are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 neutral site games and are 12-5 ATS in their last 17 games following a ATS win and are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 NCAA Tournament games.

I was hoping for a smaller line as I believe Michigan State wins because LSU can’t hold a lead to save their life. This should be close for a bit before the Spartans lay the hammer down…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
