The Michigan Wolverines and the Michigan State Spartans will match up on the college basketball circuit in the Big Ten Tournament championship game Sunday.
Michigan comes into this game at 28-5 overall. The Wolverines dropped their final pre-tournament game to Michigan State but have since beat Iowa and Minnesota to reach the final round.
In the Saturday win over the Gophers, Michigan’s top scorer was Zavier Simpson on 15 points, nine assists and three rebounds. Ignas Brazdeikis also had a nice line for the Wolverines with 13 points and five rebounds.
Over on the Michigan State side, they’re 27-6 this season. The Spartans have won four straight games and have taken out Ohio State and Wisconsin so far in the Big Ten Tournament.
In the win over the Badgers, Michigan State’s Cassius Winston set the pace on 21 points with six assists and two rebounds. Kenny Goins added a double-double for the Spartans there with 13 points, 12 rebounds and four assists.
The Wolverines are 13-3 ATS in their last 16 Sunday games and 4-1 ATS in their last five overall. Michigan is 34-14-1 ATS in their last 51 versus the Big Ten and 40-18-4 ATS in their last 62 neutral-site games.
Meanwhile, the Spartans are 11-4 ATS in their last 15 after an ATS win and 22-8 ATS in their last 30 overall. Michigan State is 5-2 ATS in their last seven Sunday games and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 neutral-site games.
Michigan had their way with the Gophers on Saturday, jumping out to a 38-19 halftime lead and adding to it with a 38-30 second half for a 76-49 blowout that brings the Wolverines back into the top-tier conversation.
The Spartans have taken out Michigan twice this year already, 77-70 on February 24 and 75-63 on March 9. It seems like Michigan State is the only team the Wolverines have trouble with these days. Michigan is on a roll, and I don’t think they’ll lay down here. I would go with the Wolverines here, but with the line so thin I have to take the Spartans to eke one out.
