The Northern Illinois Huskies and the Michigan State Spartans will match up on the college basketball circuit Saturday.

Northern Illinois comes into this one at 7-5 on the year. So far, the Huskies have taken out Rockford, Illinois Tech, Oral Roberts, Oakland, UC Davis, Western Illinois and Chicago State.

In the Cougars game, Northern Illinois’ Eugene German put up 21 points, three assists and two rebounds. Zaire Mateen added 15 points and Dante Thorpe chipped in 14, but Levi Bradley bettered them both with 16 points and five rebounds.

Over on the Michigan State side, they’re 10-2 on the season. In succession, the Spartans have beaten FGCU, LA-Monroe, TN Tech, UCLA, Texas, Rutgers, Iowa, Florida, Green Bay and Oakland.

In the Golden Grizzlies game, Michigan State’s Cassius Winston put up 26 points, while Nick Ward had 14 with seven rebounds and Joshua Langford managed 12 points, four rebounds and four assists.

The Huskies are 4-1 ATS in their last five non-conference games and 4-1 ATS in their last five overall. NIU is 0-3-1 ATS in the last four versus the Big Ten and the over is 5-1 in their last six road games.

Meanwhile, the Spartans are 4-1 ATS in their last five home games and 4-1 ATS in the last five overall. Michigan State is 5-2 ATS in their last seven versus the MAC and 1-6-1 ATS in their last eight Saturday games.

Northern Illinois has been a little inconsistent this season; one game they look like offensive firestorms and the next they put up a dud.

The Huskies probably won’t be a match for the Spartans in any facet; I’m going with Michigan State here.
