The Line: Michigan State Spartans -3 -- Over/Under:
We’ve got a fun college basketball game coming on Saturday from Breslin Center as the Purdue Boilermakers and the Michigan State Spartans meet up on the college basketball court.
Purdue comes into this one with a 23-3 record overall. The Boilermakers had a lengthy winning streak snapped in their last outing Wednesday versus Ohio State. In that one, Purdue’s Carsen Edwards managed 28 points.
Edwards is also the leading scorer for Purdue on the year with 17.0 PPG, and Vincent Edwards has 15.3 PPG with 7.8 RPG. Also in double-digits for the Boilermakers are Isaac Haas (14.7 PPG) and Dakota Mathias (12.2 PPG).
As for Michigan State, they’re sitting at 23-3 on the year as well. The Spartans have won their last seven straight games, most recently against Iowa Tuesday. In that one, Michigan State’s Miles Bridges managed 25 points.
Bridges leads the Spartans on scoring this year with 17.7 PPG and 7.3 RPG, and Nick Ward is sitting at 13.3 PPG and 7.5 RPG. Also in double-digits for Michigan State are Joshua Langford (13.0 PPG), Cassius Winston (12.2 PPG; 7.0 RPG) and Jaren Jackson (11.3 PPG).
The Boilermakers are 13-3-2 ATS in their last 18 Saturday games and 0-4 ATS in the last four games following an ATS loss. Purdue is also 0-5 ATS in the last five games overall and 0-5 ATS in their last five versus the Big Ten.
Meanwhile, the Spartans are 5-1 ATS in the last six home games versus a team with a winning road record and 21-8 ATS in their last 29 home games. Michigan State is also 1-4-1 ATS in their last six games following an ATS loss and 0-4 ATS in their last four Saturday games.
Purdue had shown a couple of signs of slowing down during their winning streak, but hit a wall against Ohio State, and that wasn’t even a road game. Michigan State has had some close calls as well, winning by just three points in each of their last two. This should be a great game, and probably one to stay away from, but I’m going to go with the Spartans here.
