The Youngstown State Penguins will travel to UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena to take on the Milwaukee Panthers this Saturday night in College Basketball action.
The Youngstown State Penguins lost their 4th straight game and dropped to 4-12 (0-3 Horizon) on the season after being defeated by the Green Bay Phoenix, 99-93 in OT, this past Thursday. In a tight back and forth game, Green Bay was able to pull away in OT after a pair of PJ Pipes FT’s gave Green Bay a 95-88 lead with :42 seconds left in OT. Youngstown State shot 51.6% from the field & 53.6% from beyond the arc in the loss. Leading the way for the Penguins was Darius Quisenberry who had 24 points, 2 rebounds, 5 assists, and a steal.
On the season, Youngstown State is averaging 76.6 ppg on 42.2% shooting from the field. The Penguins are averaging 9.6 three-pointers per game on 33.6% shooting from beyond the arc. The Milwaukee Panthers improved to 6-9 (1-1 Horizon) on the season after defeating the Cleveland State Vikings, 83-76, this past Thursday. Milwaukee struggled in the 1st half and went into halftime trailing by a 38-28 margin, however, dominated Cleveland State on both ends of the floor in the 2nd half and pulled away after taking a 69-59 lead with 3:58 left in regulation. Milwaukee shot 49.1% from the field and forced the Vikings into committing 20 turnovers in the victory. Leading the way for the Panthers was Darius Roy who had 24 points, 2 rebounds, 5 assits, and 2 steals.

Offensively, Milwaukee has been led by Darius Roy (16.7 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 3.9 apg, 1.1 spg), DeAndre Abram (10.9 ppg, 7.4 rpg, 1.3 apg), Vance Johnson (10.3 ppg, 5.5 rpg), and Carson Warren-Newsome (9.6 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 2.3 apg).
Defensively, Milwaukee is allowing their opponents to average 75.8 ppg on 43.1% shooting from the field. The Panthers have a rebound margin of -1.5 and a turnover margin of -1.2.
The Penguins are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall, however, are just 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games vs. Horizon League opponents. The Panthers are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400 and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games vs. a team with a losing straight up record.
Youngstown State has lost 8 of their last 9 games and although they have a decent offense that ranks 123rd in scoring offense & 40th in three-pointers made per game, the Penguins have really struggled defensively as they rank just 339th in scoring defense & 313th in defensive FG%. Milwaukee has won 4 of their last 5 games, however, the Panthers didn’t face the toughest in competition and currently rank just 235th in scoring offense & 265th in scoring defense. Milwaukee is the better team, however, as I think Youngstown State’s offense will be able to put some points up on the board as they did agianst Green Bay, I think the Penguins do enough to cover with the points. Take Youngstown State and the points!
