The Maryland Terrapins and the Minnesota Golden Gophers will meet up in college basketball activity on Tuesday.
Maryland enters this game at a solid 12-3 record overall. Since falling 78-74 to Seton Hall last month, the Terrapins have dispatched Radford, Nebraska and Rutgers in succession over their last trio.
In the win over Rutgers, Maryland’s Jalen Smith topped the team on 16 points and six rebounds. Anthony Cowan added 15 points for the Terrapins and Bruno Fernando nearly doubled up with 10 points, nine rebounds and five assists.
Over on the Minnesota side, they’re 12-2 this season. The Gophers last fell to Ohio State December 2, and since have beaten Nebraska, Arkansas State, North Florida, NC A&T, Mt. St. Mary’s and Wisconsin.
In the victory over the Badgers, Minnesota guard Amir Coffey put up 21 points, six rebounds and three assists. Dupree McBrayer added 14 points and four rebounds for the Gophers, and Jordan Murphy hauled in 11 rebounds.
The Terrapins are 4-0 ATS in their last four road games and 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight overall. Maryland is 7-3-1 ATS in their last 11 Tuesday games and 2-5-1 ATS in their last eight following an ATS win.
Meanwhile, the Gophers are 5-14 ATS in their last 19 versus the Big Ten and 1-4 ATS in their last five overall. Minnesota is 1-7 ATS in their last eight Tuesday games and 0-4 ATS in their last four home games.
Maryland’s losses this year are pretty unremarkable if you’re trying to discredit the team: 76-71 to Virginia, 62-60 to a plucky Purdue squad and 78-74 to the dangerous Seton Hall. Otherwise, the Terrapins have taken care of business and looked pretty solid doing it.
As for Minnesota, they’ve got some nice wins on the resume as well but are also prone to falling flat offensively in the sub-60-point range.
This should be a pretty fun game to watch, and I like Maryland to step up and cover in the end after a tense battle.
