The Drake Bulldogs and the Missouri State Bears meet in MVC college basketball action from the JQH Arena on Saturday afternoon.

The Drake Bulldogs come into this game looking to finish the regular season strong after an 80-68 win over Indiana State in their last outing. Brady Ellingson led the Bulldogs with 16 points on 6 of 11 shooting with 4 threes while Nick McGlynn came right behind with 15 points along with 9 rebounds and 3 blocks. Anthony Murphy chipped in 13 points while Tremell Murphy added 12 points with 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the double-double to round out the group of double-digit scorers for Drake in the win. Noah Thomas also had 4 assists while Garrett Sturtz had 9 points and 7 rebounds as well in the victory. McGlynn leads Drake with an average of 15.4 points and 8.4 rebounds per game while D.J. Wilkins leads Drake with an average of 2.8 assists per game this season. As a team, Drake is averaging 76 points per game on 47% shooting from the field, 36.1% from behind the arc and 74.9% from the foul line this season.

The Missouri State Bears will look to rebound from a 65-57 loss to Illinois State in their last outing. Keandre Cook led the Bears with 16 points on 5 of 13 shooting with 4 threes while Jarred Dixon came right behind with 15 points and Tulio Da Silva added 12 points with 11 rebounds for the double-double to round out the trio of double-digit scorers for Missouri State in the losing effort. Josh Webster added 8 points with a team-high 4 assists as well in the loss. Cook leads the Bears with an average of 13.1 points and 4.1 rebounds per game while Webster leads the Bears in assists with 5.1 helpers per game on the year. As a team, Missouri State is averaging 69.5 points per game on 45.8% shooting from the field, 34.6% from behind the 3-point line and 69.4% from the foul line this season.

Drake is 20-5-2 ATS in their last 27 games overall and 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 6-1 in their last 7 road games. Missouri State is 7-17 ATS in their last 24 games following a loss and 8-20 ATS in their last 28 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 12-3 in their last 15 games overall. Drake is 6-0 ATS in the last 6 meetings between these two teams.

Take this with a grain of salt as I can never seem to get Drake games right, but I’m not sure why on earth Missouri State is favored here. The Bulldogs have been a covering machine this entire season, and the Bulldogs have been one of those teams where you’ve profited blindly backing the Bulldogs more often than not. The Bulldogs have also had Missouri State’s number in recent years and the Bears haven’t exactly been very good when taking a step up in competition dating back to last season. Even on the road, I think the wrong team is favored here, so I’ll take the free bucket with Drake in this one.
