The Iona Gaels visit the Monmouth Hawks for a Sunday MAAC college basketball matchup.

The Iona Gaels have gone 4-1 in the MAAC after knocking off Marist 90-77 on Friday as a 5.5 point home favorite.

Iona led by one at the break before dominating the second half 50-38 behind a 48.2%-43.1% shooting edge and eleven more makes at the stripe.

Rickey McGill paced the Gaels with 16 points, five pulls and seven helpers while Asante Gist led all scorers with 21 points.

Iona received 14 points, seven rebounds and five assists from EJ Crawford followed by Ben Perez and Tajuan Agee with 12 and ten points.

The Monmouth have suddenly flipped the switch with wins in four of five after a 74-57 win against Fairfield as a two point favorite.

Monmouth took a seven point lead in to the intermission and slowly pulled away with a 43.4%-35.7% shooting edge and ten more makes at the stripe.

Ray Salnave topped a balanced Hawks offense with 17 points and three yanks followed by a 16 point effort from Deion Hammond.

Diago Quinn gave Monmouth 15 points and eight rebounds followed by Nick Rutherford with five points, eight rebounds and six helpers.

Iona are 1-9 ATS in their last 10 road games and over is 7-1 in Iona last 8 overall and over is 19-7-1 in IONA last 27 road games. Monmouth Hawks are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games and Monmouth Hawks are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall and Monmouth Hawks are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. Metro Atlantic Athletic. Under is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings.

Both teams are playing well and I’m leaning to Monmouth to get the season split…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
