The Quinnipiac Bobcats and the Monmouth Hawks meet in college basketball MAAC-tion from the OceanFirst Bank Center on Sunday afternoon.

The Quinnipiac Bobcats will look to rebound after alternating wins and losses in each of their last 4 games following an 81-77 loss to Iona in their last outing. Cameron Young led the Bobcats with 30 points on 10 of 21 shooting with 7 threes and 3 assists while Rich Kelly added 18 points and a team-high 4 assists as the only other Quinnipiac player to score in double figures in the losing effort. Tyrese Williams added 9 points with 8 rebounds and 3 steals while Kevin Marfo had 8 points and a team-high 10 boards in the loss. Young leads Quinnipiac in scoring with 23 points per game while Williams leads the Bobcats in assists with 2.4 assists per game and Abdulai Bundu leads the Bobcats in rebounding with 5.7 rebounds per game this season. As a team, Quinnipiac is averaging 73.8 points per game on 42.5% shooting from the field, 36.5% from behind the arc and 70.3% from the foul line this season.

The Monmouth Hawks come into this game looking to snap a 3-game losing streak after a 60-59 loss to Canisius last time out. Deion Hammond led the Hawks with 14 points on 5 of 10 shooting with 3 threes while Diago Quinn added 13 points and Mustapha Traore added 10 points to round out the trio of double-digit scorers for Monmouth in the loss with both Traore and Quinn grabbing a team-high 8 rebounds. Ray Salnave had 7 points with a team-high 5 assists as well in the loss for the Hawks. Hammond leads Monmouth in scoring with 11.9 points per game while Quinn leads the Hawks on the glass with 5.9 rebounds per game and Salnave leads Monmouth in assists with 2.6 assists per game this season. As a team, Monmouth is averaging 64.2 points per game on 40.5% shooting from the field, 29.5% from behind the arc and 69.1% from the foul line this season.

Quinnipiac is 18-7-1 ATS in their last 26 road games and 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games following a loss while the over is 7-2 in their last 9 games overall. Monmouth is 7-2 ATS in their last 9 home games and 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games against a team with a winning record while the over is 7-0 in their last 7 Sunday games. The favorite is 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.

I understand Monmouth being favored at home where the Hawks have been playing their stronger basketball as of late. However, while Quinnipiac has had consistency issues as of late, the one thing that Monmouth has done consistently is lose, and in a near pick 'em scenario, sometimes that's enough to sway the needle one way or another. The Bobcats have also been very good at getting the job done on the road, so I'll take a shot with Quinnipiac and the free point here.

Quinnipiac +1
