The Montana State Bobcats improved to 9-12 (6-5 Big Sky) on the season after defeating the Northern Colorado Bears, 69-66, this past Monday night. Montana State was solid defensively against a very good Northern Colorado offense and was able to pull off the upset win after closing the final 2:08 of regulation on a 7-0 run. Montana State held Northern Colorado to just 42.1% from the field and 18.5% from beyond the arc in the victory. Eastern Washington has won 5 of their last 6 games and although they rank just 254th in scoring offense, 306th in FG%, and 294th in scoring defense, the Eagles have been solid as of late as they topped 82+ points in 4 of their last 5 games.
Montana State has lost 4 of their last 6 games and although their offense has been solid, ranking 90th in scoring offense, the defense has really struggled as the Bobcats currently rank just 336th in scoring defense and 346th in defensive FG%.
Montana State just pulled off a great win against Northern Colorado and has one of the best players in the Big Sky in Tyler Hall, however, I just have a hard time trusting the Bobcats defense. Eastern Washington is playing some of their best basketball of the season as of late and as they already were able to defeat Montana State by an 85-81 margin at home this season, I think the Eagles and their offense do enough with the points to cover in this one. Good Luck!
