The Idaho State Bengals lost their 2nd straight game and dropped to 7-9 (3-4 Big Sky) on the season after being defeated by the Northern Colorado Bears, 77-53, this past Monday night. Idaho State struggled on both ends of the court against the Bears and couldn’t fight back after Northern Colorado took a 61-39 lead with 11:50 left in the 2nd half. Idaho State shot just 11.8% from beyond the arc while allowed Northern Colorado to shoot 44.8% from the field & 48.1% from beyond the arc in the loss. Leading the way for the Bengals was Kelvin Jones who had 11 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, and 4 blocks.

Offensively, Idaho State has been led by Brandon Boyd (13.9 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 3.9 apg), Balint Mocsan (10.4 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 1.9 apg, 1.1 spg), Chier Maker (9.2 ppg, 6.8 rpg), and Kelvin Jones (9.2 ppg, 5.4 rpg).

The Montana Grizzlies won their 2nd straight game and improved to 12-6 (5-2 Big Sky) on the season after defeating the Idaho Vandals, 69-51, this past Saturday night. Montana was outstanding on the defensive end against the Vandals and pulled in the 2nd half after a 13-0 Grizzlies run gave Montana a 62-46 lead with 2:52 left in regulation. Montana outrebounded Idaho by a 43-32 margin and held Idaho to just 35.8% shooting from the field in the victory. Leading the way for the Grizzlies was Ahmaad Rorie who had 20 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 assist.
On the season, Montana is averaging 75.4 ppg on 48.7% shooting from the field. The Grizzlies are averaging 7.9 three-pointers per game on 36.0% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Montana has been led by Ahmaad Rorie (16.0 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 3.3 apg, 1.0 spg), Jamar Akoh (15.0 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 1.8 apg, 1.6 spg), Michael Oguine (13.8 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 2.0 apg), and Sayeed Pridgett (12.7 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 1.8 apg, 1.5 spg).
Defensively, Montana is allowing their opponents to average 67.7 ppg on 41.8% shooting from the field. The Grizzlies have a rebound margin of 1.3 and a turnover margin of 1.8.
The Bengals are 9-1 ATS in their last 10 games following an ATS loss, however, are just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a winning straight up record. The Grizzlies are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following an ATS win and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games overall.
Idaho State has lost 4 of their last 6 games and has really struggled on the defensive end this season as they currently rank just 286th in scoring defense & 307th in defensive FG%. Montana has won 6 of their last 8 games and has been solid on both ends of the court as they rank 25th in FG%, T-90th in scoring defense, and 91st in defensive FG%.
Idaho State has the three-point shooting ability to keep any game close, however, Montana is a tough place to play as the Grizzlies are 5-1 at home this season and are a solid defensive team. Montana had dominated this series as of late and as the last 5 victories over the Bengals have all come by double-digits, I think Montana will be able to cover this large home spread.
