The Line: Montana Grizzlies -9.5 -- Over/Under:
Over at Dahlberg Arena on Thursday, the Portland State Vikings and the Montana Grizzlies will be matching up on the college basketball circuit.
Portland State comes into this game with a 14-9 record overall. The Vikings had lost three games in a row but got a win over Eastern Washington in their last outing. In that one, Portland State guard Holland Woods managed 29 points.
Heading up the scoring for the Vikings on the year is Deontae North with 21.1 PPG and 4.9 RPG. Also in double-digits for Portland State are Bryce Canda (14.8 PPG; 6.7 RPG) and Woods (11.0 PPG; 5.7 APG).
Montana enters this one with a 18-5 record overall. The Grizzlies have won their last 11 straight games, including Saturday’s outing versus North Dakota. In that game, Montana’s Jamar Akoh put up 23 points.
Tops in scoring for Montana this year is Ahmaad Rorie with 17.7 PPG and 3.6 APG. Also in the double-digit club for the Grizzlies are Michael Oguine (15.3 PPG; 4.8 RPG) and Akoh (14.0 PPG; 6.9 RPG).
Portland State is 7-2 ATS in their last nine games following an ATS win and 1-4 ATS in their last five road games. The Vikings are also 1-5 ATS in the last five games overall and 1-5 ATS in their last six versus the Big Sky.
Meanwhile, the Grizzlies are 5-0 ATS in their last five Thursday games and 6-0-1 ATS in their last seven home games. Montana is also 9-1-1 ATS in their last 11 versus the Big Sky and 15-5-1 in their last 21 overall.
Portland State’s record doesn’t look very good lately, but on the whole they’ve been scoring pretty well. The Vikings have managed at least 88 points in each of their last two games, but they’ve also given up a combined 168 points. When these two teams last met, it was a 92-89 Montana win. I think the Grizzlies can outpace the Vikings here though, so I’ll take Montana.
