The Eastern Kentucky Colonels dropped to 7-7 (0-1 OVC) on the season after being defeated by the Austin Peay Governors, 93-75, this past Thursday. Eastern Kentucky’s defensive came out flat in their conference opener and the Colonels couldn’t fight back after Austin Peay took a 56-35 halftime lead. Eastern Kentucky shot 45.5% from the field while allowing the Governors to shoot 56.9% from the field & 52.4% from beyond the arc in the loss. The Murray State Racers won their 2nd straight game and improved to 10-2 (1-0 OVC) on the season after defeating the Morehead State Eagles, 90-69, this past Thursday. Murray State had their way on the offensive end agianst the Eagles and had no trouble securing the victory after they went into halftime with a 45-26 lead. The Colonels are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games following a straight up loss and 10-3-2 ATS in their last 15 road games. The Racers are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games vs. OVC opponents and 12-3 ATS in their last 15 games overall.
Eastern Kentucky has lost 3 of their last 4 games and although they have an offense that can put points up on the board as they rank T-17th in scoring offense, the Colonels have really struggled defensively as they rank just 342nd in scoring defense & 314th in defensive FG%. Murray State has been outstanding this season on both ends of the court as they currently rank 45th in scoring offense & 31st in scoring defense.
Eastern Kentucky has a solid player in Nick Mayo, however, Murray State has the best player on the court in Ja Morant who could be a top-10 draft pick in this upcoming NBA draft. Murray State is 8-0 at home on the season and as I think their offense will be able to put up 90+ points on the Eastern Kentucky defense, I’m taking the Racers to cover this large home spread. Good Luck!
