The UT Martin Skyhawks will travel to the CFSB Center to take on the Murray State Racers this Thursday night in College Basketball action.

The UT Martin Skyhawks won their 4th straight game and improved to 10-15 (5-9 OVC) on the season after defeating the SIU-Edwardsville Cougars, 73-69, this past Saturday. UT Martin led by a 31-25 margin at halftime and was able to hold off a late SIU-Edwardsville charge after the Skyhawks led by a 48-31 margin with 12:06 left in regulation. UT Martin shot 40.0% from beyond the arc and outrebounded the Cougars by a 37-29 margin in the victory. Leading the way for the Skyhawks was Delfincko Bogan who had 23 points, 7 rebounds, 1 assist, and 4 steals.

On the season, UT Martin is averaging 75.4 ppg on 44.1% shooting from the field. The Skyhawks are averaging 8.2 three-pointers per game on 34.7% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, UT Martin has been led by Craig Randall II (13.7 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 3.3 apg, 1.3 spg), Quintin Dove (12.4 ppg, 4.7 rpg), Preston Parks (11.8 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 3.9 apg, 1.3 spg), and Delfincko Bogan (10.6 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 3.2 apg, 1.5 spg).

Defensively, UT Martin is allowing their opponents to average 78.1 ppg on 47.8% shooting from the field. The Skyhawks have a rebound margin of -1.5 and a turnover margin of 0.8.

The Murray State Racers won their 5th straight game and improved to 21-4 (12-2 OVC) on the season after defeating the Eastern Kentucky Colonels, 102-70, this past Saturday night. Murray State overwhelmed the Colonels on the offensive end and had no trouble pulling away for victory after a 13-0 Racers run gave Murray State a 79-55 lead with 7:20 left in regulation. Murray State shot 60.7% from the field and 43.5% from beyond the arc in the victory. Leading the way for the Racers was Ja Morant who had 25 points, 14 assists, 8 rebounds, 1 block, and 3 steals.

On the season, Murray State is averaging 83.0 ppg on 49.5% shooting from the field. The Racers are averaging 8.0 three-pointers per game on 35.1% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Murray State has been led by Ja Morant (24.3 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 10.2 apg, 2.0 spg), Shaq Buchanan (13.4 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 1.7 apg, 2.0 spg), Tevin Brown (12.0 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 2.3 apg, 1.3 spg), and Darnell Cowart (9.6 ppg, 6.0 rpg).

Defensively, Murray State is allowing their opponents to average 67.4 ppg on 41.0% shooting from the field. The Racers have a rebound margin of 3.6 and a turnover margin of 2.3.

The Skyhawks are 4-0 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up win and 7-0 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The Racers are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games vs. a team with a losing straight up record and 19-9 ATS in their last 28 games overall.

UT Martin has won 6 of their last 7 games and although their defense ranks just 319th in scoring defense & 338th in scoring defense, the Skyhawks have been much better as of late as during their 4-game winning streak, their holding their opponents to an average of just 65.8 ppg which is over 12 points less than their season average.

Murray State has won 13 of their last 15 games and has been outstanding on both ends of the court this season as the Racers rank 17th in scoring offense, 7th in FG%, and 77th in scoring defense.

Murray State is arguably the best mid-major team in the country (Wofford is right up there also….) and has one of the best players in all of College Basketball in Ja Morant who is currently projecting to be a top-5 NBA draft pick. UT Martin lost by a 98-77 margin at home against Murray State earlier in the season, however, the Skyhawks have been playing their best basketball of the season as of late, which includes an impressive victory over Jacksonville State. UT Martin is going to have their hands full on the defensive end, however, as they are a decent offensive team that ranks 111th in scoring offense and have a 4-2 record since Craig Randall II become eligible to play, I think the Skyhawks will be able to do just enough in this one to cover with the large amount of points. Good Luck!

Pick:
UT Martin Skyhawks +17
