The South Dakota Coyotes will travel to Baxer Arena to take on the Omaha Mavericks this Sunday night in College Basketball action.

The South Dakota Coyotes dropped to 8-10 (2-3 Summit) on the season after being defeated by the Oral Roberts Golden Griffins, 77-74, this past Thursday night. South Dakota had no answers for the duo of Kevin Obanor & D.J. Weaver who combined for 55 points for the Golden Griffins and couldn’t fight back after Oral Roberts took a 77-72 lead with just 1:04 left in regulation. South Dakota allowed Oral Roberts to shoot 47.1% from beyond the arc and was outrebounded by the Golden Griffins by a 40-33 margin in the loss. Leading the way for the Coyotes was Tyler Peterson who had a double-double with 20 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal.

On the season, South Dakota is averaging 67.3 ppg on 43.4% shooting from the field. The Coyotes are averaging 6.6 three-pointers per game on 32.1% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, South Dakota has been led by Stanley Umude (13.4 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 1.3 apg, 1.1 bpg), Trey Burch-Manning (12.5 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 1.6 apg, 1.6 spg), Triston Simpson (12.5 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 3.2 apg, 1.5 spg), and Tyler Peterson (11.8 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 2.4 apg).

Defensively, South Dakota is holding their opponents to an average of 67.5 ppg on 43.6% shooting from the field. The Coyotes have a rebound margin of -2.3 and a turnover margin of 1.8.

The Omaha Mavericks won their 3rd straight game and improved to 10-8 (4-1 Summit) on the season after defeating the Western Illinois Leathernecks, 80-71, this past Thursday. Omaha dominated on the offensive end against Western Illinois and had no trouble securing the victory after taking a 53-35 lead with 15:39 left in the 2nd half. Omaha shot 50.9% from the field and 43.5% from beyond the arc in the victory. Leading the way for the Mavericks was Zach Jackson who had 22 points, 5 rebounds and an assist.

On the season, Omaha is averaging 79.3 ppg on 48.0% shooting from the field. The Mavericks are averaging 9.3 three-pointers per game on 39.5% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Omaha has been led by Zach Jackson (17.9 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 1.9 apg), JT Gibson (14.2 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 2.3 apg, 1.3 spg), Mitchell Hahn (11.0 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 1.7 apg), and KJ Robinson (10.6 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 3.2 apg).

Defensively, Omaha is allowing their opponents to average 78.5 ppg on 47.8% shooting from the field. The Mavericks have a rebound margin of -4.3 and a turnover margin of 2.8.

The Coyotes are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following an ATS loss and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 road games. The Mavericks are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games overall.

South Dakota has lost 5 of their last 7 games and has really struggled offensively this season as they rank just 307th in scoring offense, 236th in FG%, and 274th in 3P-FG%. Omaha has won 7 of their last 8 games and although their defense can give up points, the Mavericks offense has been solid this season as they rank T-55th in scoring offense, 46th in FG%, and 14th in 3P-FG%.

South Dakota has been awful ATS on the road this season and between the fact that the Mavericks are 4-2 ATS at home this season and that I think the Mavericks offense will be able to put up a good amount of points on the Coyotes defense, I’m taking Omaha to cover this mid-range home spread.

Pick:
Omaha Mavericks -5.5
