The Fresno State Bulldogs and the Nevada Wolf Pack meet in Mountain West college basketball action from the Lawlor Events Center on Saturday night.
The Fresno State Bulldogs will look to rebound from a 64-61 loss to Air force in their last outing as 12.5-point favorites. Deshon Taylor led the Bulldogs with 23 points on 6 of 14 shooting with 3 threes, an 8 of 8 mark from the foul line, 8 rebounds and a team-high 5 assists. Braxton Huggins added 17 points with 5 threes along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. New Williams added 10 points to round out the trio of double-digit scorers for Fresno State in the win while Nate Grimes had a team-high 9 rebounds. Huggins leads Fresno State in scoring with 19 points per game while Grimes leads the Bulldogs in rebounding with 9.3 rebounds per game and Noah Blackwell leads Fresno State in assists with 3.8 assists per game this season. As a team, Fresno State is averaging 76 points per game on 45.3% shooting from the field, 37.9% from behind the arc and 72.2% from the foul line this season.
The Nevada Wolf Pack will look to rebound from just their 2nd loss of the season after a 65-57 loss to San Diego State in their last outing. Caleb Martin led the Wolf Pack with 20 points on 5 of 14 shooting with 3 threes, a 7 of 8 mark from the foul line and a team-high 7 rebounds as the only Nevada player to score in double figures in the losing effort. Jordan Caroline added 8 points with 6 rebounds and a team-high 6 assists as well in the loss. Caleb Martin leads Nevada in scoring with 19.1 points per game while Caroline leads the Wolf Pack in rebounding with 9.7 rebounds per game and Cody Martin leads Nevada in assists with 5.2 assists per game this season. As a team, Nevada is averaging 81.5 points per game on 46.6% shooting from the field, 34.2% from behind the arc and 72.5% from the foul line this season.
Fresno State is 5-0-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a loss and 7-1-1 ATS in their last 9 road games while the under is 11-5 in their last 16 games overall. Nevada is 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall and 43-20-3 ATS in their last 66 home games while the over is 8-2 in their last 10 games against a team with a winning record. Fresno State is 0-4 ATS in the last 4 meetings between these two teams.
Fresno State hasn’t had any luck between these two sides as of late, so you can understand Nevada being favored especially after their first loss of the season. However, Fresno State has been solid following up a loss this season and have been a tough out on the road this year, either winning straight up or losing by no less than 9 away from home this season. That could change with Nevada being ticked off after the San Diego State game, but I just think this is too many points to give up to a Fresno State team that can hang tough, so I’ll take the points with Fresno State in this one.
