The San Diego State Aztecs take the floor at the Nevada Wolf Pack in Saturday night college basketball.
The San Diego Aztecs have their work cut out for them if they want crack the top four in the standings. San Diego State has dropped five of seven after a 79-61 defeat at the Fresno State Bulldogs where 44.6% shooting and 16 turnovers was a losing combination.
Matt Mitchell topped the Aztecs offense with 16 points and five pulls followed by a 14 point effort from Devin Watson. Jeremy Hemsley gave San Diego State another 13 points while Malik Pope added ten points and ten rebounds.
The Nevada Wolf Pack face a must win scenario every time the team takes the hardwood with the team in a virtual tie with Boise State at the top of the MWC. Nevada led the conference before dropping an 86-78 decision to the UNLV Rebels where the team was outshot 50%-38.2%.
Jordan Caroline paced the balanced Wolf Pack offense with 18 points and seven boards with Lindsey Drew adding 17 points and eight rebounds. Nevada received another 16 points from Kendall Stephens while Cody Martin netted 16 points and handed out five assists.
Over is 5-2 in SDSU last 7 overall and over is 5-2 in SDSU last 7 vs. Mountain West. Nevada are 2-6-2 ATS in their last 10 games overall and Nevada are 32-12-2 ATS in their last 46 home games.
Nevada looks like a team that could do some damage in the NCAA tournament but for now I hope they do some damage here…
