West coast college basketball pits the New Mexico Lobos against the St. Mary’s Gaels on Friday.
The New Mexico Lobos saw a two game winning streak end in a 100-65 loss at New Mexico State on Tuesday as a six point underdog. New Mexico never got going with a 50-22 halftime deficit staring them in the face with the Aggies holding a 49.3%-28.1% shooting edge.
Drue Drinnon topped a struggling Lobos offense with 13 points on 4-7 accuracy including 3-4 from beyond the arc. Karim Ezzeddine and Vance Jackson gave New Mexico eleven points each with Jackson logging six rebounds followed by an eight point, five board effort from Makuach Maluach.
The Saint Mary’s Gaels have won back to back contests after downing Bethune-Cookman 93-61 on Monday as a 20 point favorite. This game was competitive until Saint Mary’s reeled off 57 second half points in a complete performance that featured a 59.3%-39.3% shooting advantage.
Jordan Hunter topped the Gels offensive explosion with 24 points, ten rebounds, four assists and three blocks on 8-10 accuracy with Jordan Ford hitting 8-10 in scoring 23 points. SMC received 12 points and seven boards from Malik Fitts followed by Tommy Kuhse with eleven points, four pulls and six helpers.
