The Delaware State Hornets go on the road to take the floor with the Norfolk State Spartans in MEAC college basketball on Monday.
The Delaware State Hornets are still winless in the MEAC at 0-10 with the team has struggled to score the basketball. Delaware State is coming off of a 54-51 loss at the North Carolina A&T Aggies. The Hornets held a small 40%-36.7% shooting edge with the Spartans 12-5 advantage at the line being decisive.
Delaware State received 12 points apiece from Jonathan Walker and Joseph Lewis on a combined 9-18 from the floor with Lewis hauling in a contest high ten rebounds. Kavon Walker gave the Hornets nine points on 3-9 shooting while three others scored between 4-5 points.
The Norfolk State Spartans have an opportunity to crack the top four in the conference and were heading in that direction with four consecutive wins before an 82-52 loss at the Hampton Pirates ended their run. Norfolk State never found the shooting touch at 32.3% and Hampton poured it on with 52.3% marksmanship.
Steven Whitley paced the Spartans offense with 14 points and four assists on 6-14 from the floor with Alex Long adding 12 points and nine rebounds. Norfolk State received ten points from Kyle Williams while Nic Thomas chipped in with nine points.
