Norfolk State Spartans -8. O/U: 143.5
The South Carolina State Bulldogs and the Norfolk State Spartans will meet up in college basketball’s MEAC Tournament on Wednesday.
South Carolina State got into this one thanks to a tournament victory over Maryland Eastern Shore on Tuesday. The Bulldogs jumped out front in the first half 38-22 and were able to hang on 63-54.
In the win over UMES on Tuesday, South Carolina State’s Janai Raynor-Powell led the team on 15 points with five assists, and Damani Applewhite doubled up on 10 points and 12 boards.
Over on the Norfolk State side, they’re 19-12 this year. The Spartans had a nice six-game win streak going until Thursday when they hosted Howard and lost 98-95.
In the loss to the Bison, Norfolk State’s Mastadi Pitt led the way on a double-double with 20 points, 10 assists and four rebounds. Nic Thomas also notched 20 points with six rebounds for the Spartans in that one.
The Bulldogs are 5-2 ATS in their last seven neutral-site games and 1-4 ATS in their last five after an ATS win. The over is 4-1 in South Carolina State’s last five neutral-site games and they’re 10-4 ATS in their last 14 versus a team with a winning straight-up record.
Meanwhile, the Spartans are 9-4-2 ATS in their last 15 games overall and 9-4-2 ATS in their last 15 versus the MEAC. Norfolk State is 1-5 ATS in their last six neutral-site games and the over is 11-4 in their last 15 overall.
Norfolk State had a nice little run going during their six-game win streak, putting up at least 72 points in five of them. The Bison just seem to match up well with the Spartans however, as Norfolk State barely escaped with an 80-78 road win on February 2 when those teams first met up.
Now that the Spartans are out of that regular season mode, they should be able to function well here. I’m going to stick with Norfolk State on the cover here.
