The Citadel Bulldogs will travel to Greensboro Coliseum to take on the UNC Greensboro Spartans this Thursday night in College Basketball action.

The Citadel Bulldogs lost their 7th straight game and dropped to 9-9 (1-6 Southern) on the season after being defeated by the Chattanooga Mocs, 73-71, this past Saturday. The Citadel trailed by a 41-32 margin at halftime and although they fought back to make it a game late, the Bulldogs could fight back after a Kevin Easley three-pointer gave the Mocs the lead for good with :56 seconds left in regulation. The Citadel shot 42.0% from the field and just 21.6% from beyond the arc in the loss. Leading the way for the Bulldogs was Lew Stallworth who had 22 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and a steal.

On the season, The Citadel is averaging 92.1 ppg on 459% shooting from the field. The Bulldogs are averaging 13.2 three-pointers per game on 34.6% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, The Citadel has been led by Lew Stallworth (18.6 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 6.3 apg), Matt Frierson (14.1 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 1.2 apg, 1.1 spg), Zane Najdawl (13.5 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 1.5 apg, 1.1 spg), and Kaiden Rice (12.2 ppg, 3.0 rpg).

Defensively, The Citadel is allowing their opponents to average 86.8 ppg on 45.3% shooting from the field. The Bulldogs have a rebound margin of -3.8 and a turnover margin of 2.9.

The UNC Greensboro Spartans won their 3rd consecutive game and improved to 17-3 (6-1 Southern) on the season after defeating the East Tennessee State Buccaneers, 75-68, this past Saturday. UNC Greensboro led by a 36-28 margin at halftime and had no trouble securing the big road victory after taking a 67-53 lead with 5:12 left in regulation. UNC Greensboro shot 45.2% from the field and 50.0% from beyond the arc in the victory. Leading the way for the Spartans was Francis Alonso who had 15 points, 3 rebounds, & 4 assists.

On the season, UNC Greensboro is averaging 77.4 ppg on 46.7% shooting from the field. The Spartans are averaging 7.9 three-pointers per game on 35.4% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, UNC Greensboro has been led by Francis Alonso (17.7 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 2.4 apg, 1.0 spg), Isaiah Miller (14.2 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 2.3 apg, 2.8 spg), Kyrin Galloway (10.2 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 1.0 bpg), and Demetrius Tory (7.5 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 4.3 apg, 1.3 spg).

Defensively, UNC Greensboro is holding their opponents to an average of 66.2 ppg on 43.6% shooting from beyond the arc. The Spartans have a rebound margin of -0.4 and a turnover margin of 6.2.

The Bulldogs are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600 and just 1-5-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The Spartans are 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games following an ATS win.

The Citadel have followed a 7-game winning streak with a 7-game losing streak and although their fast-paced style has allowed the Bulldogs to rank 1st in scoring offense & 1st in three-pointers made per game, The Citadel will need to improve their 350th ranked scoring defense if they want to turn around their season. UNC Greensboro has won 10 of their last 11 games and has been solid on both sides of the ball as they rank 90th in scoring offense, 85th in FG%, and 52nd in scoring defense.

The Citadel are an entertaining team to watch as they love to push the tempo and put up threes, however, UNC Greensboro is a tough match-up for the Bulldogs as they have a defense that has been able to slow down the Bulldogs in the past. UNC Greensboro is 8-1 at home and as I think their offense will be able to put up plenty of points against Bulldogs defense, I’m taking UNC Greensboro to cover this double-digit spread.

Pick:
UNC Greensboro Spartans -13
