Raleigh, North Carolina
NC State Wolfpack PK O/U: 173.5
The North Carolina Tar Heels and the NC State Wolfpack will match up on the college basketball court Tuesday.
North Carolina currently sits at 11-3 this season. The Tar Heels are 5-1 over their last six games, falling to Kentucky on December 22 but otherwise beating UNCW, Gonzaga, Davidson, Harvard and Pittsburgh in that time.
In the win over the Panthers, North Carolina’s Coby White logged 22 points, three assists and four rebounds to lead the team. Luke Maye doubled up for the Tar Heels with 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Cameron Johnson put up 15 points, nine rebounds and four assists there.
Over on the NC State side, they’re 13-1 this year. Since their lone loss to Wisconsin on November 27, the Wolfpack have beaten Vanderbilt, WCU, Penn State, Auburn, USC Upstate, Loyola MD and Miami FL.
In the victory over the Hurricanes, NC State’s Markell Johnson led the way with 20 points, five assists and four rebounds. Devon Daniels had a nice game as well with 19 points and eight boards, while Wyatt Walker logged 11 rebounds with nine points.
The Tar Heels are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games and 4-1-1 ATS in their last six games overall. North Carolina is also 4-1 ATS in their last five versus the ACC and 15-6 ATS in their last 21 Tuesday games.
Meanwhile, NC State is 5-0 ATS in their last five Tuesday games and 7-1 ATS in their last eight overall. The Wolfpack are 5-1 ATS in their last six after an ATS win and 4-1 ATS in their last five home games.
There’s no doubt that this is the most eagerly anticipated matchup of the evening in the college basketball world, especially if you live anywhere near the east coast. The Tar Heels felt the hangover after their big win over Gonzaga last month with that 80-72 loss to Kentucky, but since then they’ve gotten back on track and drilled their last three opponents.
NC State looks ready for the challenge though, and showed a lot of moxie after falling behind to the Hurricanes 45-37 in the first half during their last outing. This should be a stellar game and I could make a case for either team, but I have to go with the Pack here in a familiar setting.
