The 3rd ranked Virginia Cavaliers will travel to PNC Arena to take on the 21st ranked NC State Wolfpack this Tuesday night in College Basketball action.

The 3rd ranked Virginia Cavaliers won their 2nd straight game and improved to 18-1 (6-1 ACC) on the season after defeating the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 82-55, this past Saturday. Virginia had no trouble on either end of the floor against the Fighting Irish and easily cruised to victory after taking a 42-25 half lead. Virginia shot 52.2% from the field while holding Notre Dame to just 36.1% shooting from the field & 27.6% from beyond the arc in the victory. Leading the way for the Cavaliers was De’Andre Hunter who had 19 points, 7 rebounds, & 2 assists.

On the season, Virginia is averaging 74.1 ppg on 48.1% shooting from the field. The Cavaliers are averaging 8.2 three-pointers per game on 39.6% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Virginia has been led by Kyle Guy (15.0 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 2.0 apg), De’Andre Hunter (14.7 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 2.2 apg), Ty Jerome (13.1 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 4.9 apg, 1.7 spg), and Braxton Key (7.2 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 1.2 apg, 1.2 spg).

Defensively, Virginia is holding their opponents to an average of 52.6 ppg on 37.3% shooting from the field. The Cavaliers have a rebound margin of 6.4 and a turnover margin of 3.6.

The 21st ranked NC State Wolfpack improved to 16-4 (4-3 ACC) on the season after defeating the Clemson Tigers, 69-67, this past Saturday. NC State was down by a 67-61 margin with just :26 seconds left in regulation, however, the Tigers went 0-4 at the FT line down the stretch and the Wolfpack was able to secure the stunning come from behind victory after Braxton Beverly hit a game-winning three-pointer as time expired. NC State shot 44.4% from the field and held Clemson to 0-7 shooting from beyond the arc in the victory. Leading the way for the Wolfpack was C.J. Bryce who had 15 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists.

On the season, NC State is averaging 85.4 ppg on 49.1% shooting from the field. The Wolfpack are averaging 8.7 three-pointers per game on 38.4% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, NC State has been led by Torin Dorn (14.3 ppg, 6.9 rpg, 1.5 apg, 1.2 spg), C.J. Bryce (12.5 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 1.8 apg, 1.5 spg), Markell Johnson (11.8 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 4.0 apg), and Devon Daniels (10.3 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 1.6 apg).

Defensively, NC State is allowing their opponents to average 69.5 ppg on 43.3% shooting from the field. The Wolfpack have a rebound margin of 7.7 and a turnover margin of 3.5.

The Cavaliers are 23-8 ATS in their last 31 road games and 36-14-1 ATS in their last 51 games overall. The Wolfpack are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 Tuesday games, however, just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games overall.

Virginia has rebounded from their lost at Duke with two impressive 23+ point victories over Wake Forest & Duke. The Cavaliers have an efficient offense that ranks 33rd in FG% and once again have arguably the best defense in all of College Basketball as they currently rank 1st in scoring defense & 4th in defensive FG%. NC State has split their last six games and have been led by their offense that currently ranks 10th in scoring offense, 18th in FG%, and 26th in 3P-FG%.

This is going to be a fun game to watch as the high-paced offense of the Wolfpack face off against the tough Virginia defense. NC State generally is a tough team to play at PNC Arena, however, if there is one team that I’m confident doesn’t get fazed by big games and tough road environments, it would be the Cavaliers. Virginia does a great job of disturbing their opponents pace of play and as I think the Wolfpack is going to struggle on the offensive end against the Cavaliers, I’m going to take Virginia to cover this large road spread.

Pick:
Virginia Cavaliers -8
