NC State Wolfpack -2.5 O/U: 154
The Virginia Tech Hokies and the NC State Wolfpack will match up on the college basketball court Saturday.
The Hokies roll into this one at 17-3 on the season. Since falling to North Carolina 103-82 on January 21, Virginia Tech has taken out Syracuse 78-56 and Miami (FL) 82-70 across their last two outings.
In the victory over the Hurricanes, Virginia Tech’s Nickeil Alexander-Walker led the way on 25 points, five assists and four rebounds. Ahmed Hill added 19 points with five rebounds for the Hokies in that one, and Justin Robinson chipped in 17 points.
Over on the NC State side, they’re currently 16-5 this year. The Wolfpack are just 2-3 over their last five however, taking out Clemson and Notre Dame while falling to Wake Forest, Louisville and Virginia in that time.
In the 66-65 loss to the Cavaliers, NC State’s Markell Johnson was the team’s top scorer on 14 points, six rebounds and two assists. Torin Dorn added 13 points for the Wolfpack there, and Wyatt Walker had 11 points and seven rebounds.
Virginia Tech is 35-17-1 ATS in their last 53 after an ATS win and 2-5 ATS in their last seven overall. The Hokies are 2-5 ATS in their last seven versus the ACC and 1-4 ATS in their last five after a straight-up win.
Meanwhile, the Wolfpack are 2-5 ATS in their last seven overall and 2-5 ATS in their last seven versus the ACC. The under is 4-1 in NC State’s last five overall and 4-1 in their last five versus the ACC.
The Hokies are currently in a pretty tough section of schedule, as this will be the first matchup in a series of six ranked teams they’ll face across their final 10 games. Virginia Tech was outmatched versus Virginia and UNC, but here they should match up better.
That said, NC State has proven themselves to be a versatile team that can compete with just about anyone. I expect the score here to be pretty tight the whole way, and with the home lift I’m going to side with the Wolfpack on the cover. Should be a great game, though.
