The Hofstra Pride will travel to Trask Coliseum to take on the UNC Wilmington Seahawks this Saturday night in College Basketball action.

The Hofstra Pride won their 3rd straight game and improved to 22-4 (12-1 CAA) on the season after defeating the Charleston Cougars, 99-95, this past Thursday. In a game that featured plenty of offense, Hofstra was able to hold off a late charge from the Cougars after a 15-0 Pride run gave Hofstra a 79-57 lead midway through the 2nd half. Hofstra shot 53.6% from the field and 50.0% from beyond the arc in the victory. Leading the way for the Pride was Justin Wright-Foreman who had 30 points, 2 rebounds, and an assist.

On the season, Hofstra is averaging 76.8 ppg on 45.0% shooting from the field. The Pride are averaging 8.0 three-pointers per game on 35.4% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Hofstra has been led by Justin Wright-Foreman (26.2 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 3.1 apg), Eli Pemberton (15.4 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 2.5 apg), Desure Buie (10.5 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 5.2 apg, 2.5 spg), and Jacquil Taylor (7.9 ppg, 8.2 rpg, 1.5 bpg).

Defensively, Hofstra is allowing their opponents to average 70.2 ppg on 44.3% shooting from the field. The Pride have a rebound margin of 2.0 and a turnover margin of 3.3.

The UNC Wilmington Seahawks lost their 6th consecutive game and dropped to 8-19 (4-10 CAA) on the season after being defeated by the Northeastern Huskies, 81-77, this past Thursday. UNC Wilmington led by a 44-33 margin at halftime, however, had no answers for the Northeastern offense in the 2nd half and couldn’t fight back after the Huskies took a 72-66 lead with 2:18 left in regulation. UNC Wilmington allowed Northeastern to shoot 50.0% from the field and 39.3% from beyond the arc in the loss. Leading the way for the Seahawks was Jeantal Cylla who had 19 points, 6 rebounds, and a block.

On the season, UNC Wilmington is averaging 76.8 ppg on 45.0% shooting from the field. The Seahawks are averaging 8.0 three-pointers per game on 35.4% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, UNC Wilmington has been led by Devontae Cacok (15.1 ppg, 11.9 rpg, 1.0 spg), Jeantal Cylla (13.7 ppg, 4.4 rpg), Ty Gadsden (10.9 ppg, 1.4 rpg, 2.3 apg), and Kai Toews (8.7 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 7.8 apg).

Defensively, UNC Wilmington is allowing their opponents to average 81.5 ppg on 47.7% shooting from the field. The Seahawks have a rebound margin of 3.5 and a turnover margin of -2.9.

The Pride are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a losing straight up record and 23-7 ATS in their last 30 games overall. The Seahawks are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 home games vs. a team with a winning home record, however, just 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall.

Hofstra has won 19 of their last 10 games and has been led by their offense that ranks T-15th in scoring offense, 7th in FG%, and 18th in 3P-FG%.

UNC Wilmington has lost 8 of their last 9 games and although the Seahawks has put up some points as they rank 84th in scoring offense, UNC Wilmington has really struggled defensively as they rank just 343rd in scoring defense & 339th defensive FG%.

Hofstra defeated UNC Wilmington by an 87-72 margin at home earlier this season and I just don’t see how I can’t back the Pride in this one as if they can put up 99 points on the road against a decent Charleston defense, I just don’t see how the Seahawks and their defense will be able to slow down the Pride in this one. Take Hofstra to cover this double-digit road spread. Good Luck!

Pick:
Hofstra Pride -10
