The North Dakota State Bison and the Duke Blue Devils will match up in the First Round of college basketball’s NCAA Tournament Friday.
The Bison stand at 19-15 on the season so far. North Dakota State made their way through the conference tourney with wins over Oral Roberts, Western IL and Omaha, then fended off NC Central in the First Four Wednesday.
In the win over the Eagles, North Dakota State’s top scorer was Tyson Ward on 23 points with six rebounds and three assists. Vinnie Shahid had a nice total for the Bison as well on 14 points with three assists and two boards.
Over on the Duke side, they’re 29-5 this season. The Blue Devils waltzed through the ACC Tournament last weekend, taking out Syracuse, North Carolina and Florida State in the process.
In the win over the Seminoles, Duke’s Zion Williamson put up 21 points with five rebounds and two assists. Tre Jones added 18 points with six assists and four rebounds for the Blue Devils in that one.
The Bison are 16-7 ATS in their last 23 Friday games and 10-27-1 ATS in their last 38 non-conference games. North Dakota State is 6-2-1 ATS in their last nine after a straight-up win and the over is 4-1 in their last five Friday games.
Meanwhile, the Devils are 4-0 ATS in their last four non-conference games and 1-3-1 ATS in their last five overall. Duke is 1-7 ATS in their last eight after a straight-up win and the under is 10-1-1 in their last 12 non-conference games.
The Bison’s First Four matchup was pretty great. ND State managed a 40-34 lead at halftime and held off a second-half push from the Eagles to take a 78-74 win. The Bison are scoring well lately; they’ve put up at least 73 points in all four of their tourney games.
We all know ND State is going to get drilled here, but with the line so thick it’s really tempting to take them as a dog. I think the Bison can get in there and cover.
