North Florida Ospreys -9 -- Over/Under: 145
The North Alabama Lions will travel to UNF Arena to take on the North Florida Ospreys this Monday night in the quarterfinals of the of A-SUN Championship.
The North Alabama Lions finished their regular season with an overall record of 10-21 and earned the 6-seed in the A-SUN Men’s Championship after finishing conference play with a 9-7 record. North Alabama had a tough out of conference schedule, which included a 96-51 loss at Gonzaga, and really struggled on the offensive end of the ball as the Lions finished the season ranked just 312th in scoring offense and 346th in FG%. North Alabama did play better down the stretch, winning 2 of their last 4 games and did have an impressive showing earlier this season in a 61-56 home victory against Florida Gulf Coast.
On the season, North Alabama is averaging 65.6 ppg on 38.6% shooting from the field. The Lions are averaging 7.2 three-pointers per game on 29.8% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, North Alabama has been led by Jamari Blackmon (14.6 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 2.6 apg, 1.8 spg), Kendarius Smith (12.2 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 2.7 apg, 1.4 spg), Christian Agnew (11.2 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 1.0 apg, 1.1 spg), and Kendall Stafford (10.6 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 2.0 apg).
Defensively, North Alabama is allowing their opponents to average 74.9 ppg on 46.4% shooting from the field.
The North Florida Ospreys finished their regular with an overall record of 15-16 and earned the 3-seed in the A-SUN Men’s Championship after finishing conference play with a 9-7 record. North Florida comes into the A-SUN Tournament on a roll as the Ospreys finished their regular season on a 6-game winning streak including an impressive 75-70 victory over the Liberty Flames who finished the season with a share of the regular season title. North Florida has struggled at times this season with their defense that ranks just 308th in scoring defense, however, has a dangerous offense that can give any team trouble as they rank 100th in scoring offense, 28th in assists per game, and 51st in three-pointers made per game.
On the season, North Florida is averaging 75.7 ppg on 44.9% shooting from the field. The Ospreys are averaging 9.2 three-pointers per game on 33.7% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, North Florida has been led by Noah Horchler (16.0 ppg, 9.3 rpg, 1.3 apg, 1.7 bpg), Garrett Sams (12.0 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 2.6 apg, 1.3 spg), Wajid Aminu (11.6 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 1.3 apg, 2.0 bpg), and Ivan Gandia-Rosa (10.5 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 5.8 apg, 1.0 spg).
Defensively, North Florida is allowing their opponents to average 77.2 ppg on 43.6% shooting from the field.
The Lions are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Osprey are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 games following a straight up win and 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall.
North Florida had no trouble defeated North Alabama in both match-ups this season as the Ospreys won by a 96-67 margin at home and by an 82-73 margin on the road. North Florida is a 9-3 at home this season and between the fact that I don’t see the Ospreys have any trouble on the offensive end and that the Lions are just 2-17 on the road this season, I’m initially leaning on taking North Florida in what I would expect to be about a 10-14 points spread. Check back later when the line is released.
