North Texas Mean Green -2.5 O/U: 135.5
The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers and the North Texas Mean Green will meet up on the college basketball court Saturday.
Western Kentucky shows up here at 14-10 on the year. The Hilltoppers have won their last three straight games, beating UTSA, UTEP and Rice during that stretch of outings.
In the 2OT win over Rice, Western Kentucky’s Josh Anderson led the way with 24 points and nine rebounds. Jared Savage put up 21 points for the Hilltoppers there, and Charles Bassey doubled up on 10 points and 14 boards.
Over on the North Texas side, they’re 20-4 this season. After a 72-61 loss to Old Dominion, the Mean Green have won their last pair versus Charlotte and Marshall.
In the win over the Herd, North Texas’ Roosevelt Smart topped the roster on 20 points and 10 rebounds. Zachary Simmons put up a double-double for the Green in that one as well with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
The Hilltoppers are 5-1 ATS in their last six overall and 5-1 ATS in their last six versus CUSA. Western Kentucky is 4-1 ATS in their last five after a straight-up win and 6-2 ATS in their last eight road games.
Meanwhile, the Green are 4-12-1 ATS in their last 17 Saturday games and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 home games. North Texas is 0-6 ATS in the last six after an ATS win and the under is 4-1-1 in their last six home games.
WKU had trouble with a stubborn Rice team, but got things going in the second overtime to keep this nice run of outings going. They’ve been buoyed by OTs, but the Hilltoppers have put up at least 92 points in two of their last three.
Still, North Texas has been putting up some nice points totals lately (aside from a couple of duds over their last five games) and I like them on the home lift here. I’ll take the Green.
