The UNC Wilmington Seahawks will travel to Matthews Arena to take on the Northeastern Huskies this Saturday afternoon in College Basketball action.

The UNC Wilmington Seahawks dropped to 7-12 (3-3 CAA) on the season after being defeated by the Hofstra Pride, 87-72, this past Thursday. UNC Wilmington led by a 42-41 margin at halftime, however, struggled offensively in the 2nd half and couldn’t fight back after a 12-0 Hofstra run gave the Pride a 62-51 lead with 8:47 left in regulation. UNC Wilmington shot 46.7^ from the field and lost the turnover battle by a 12-7 margin in the loss. Leading the way for the Seahawks was Devontae Cacok who had a double-double with 15 points, 10 rebounds, and an assist.

On the season, UNC Wilmington is averaging 76.7 ppg on 45.1% shooting from the field. The Seahawks are averaging 8.5 three-pointers per game on 36.6% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, UNC Wilmington has been led by Devontae Cacok (14.9 ppg, 11.6 rpg), Jeantal Cylla (14.0 ppg, 4.8 rpg), Ty Gadsden (9.9 ppg, 1.4 rpg, 2.5 apg), and Kai Toews (7.5 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 7.7 apg).

Defensively, UNC Wilmington is allowing their opponents to average 80.7 ppg on 46.2% shooting from the field. The Seahawks have a rebound margin of 4.1 and a turnover margin of -4.1.

The Northeastern Huskies won their 3rd straight game and improved to 10-8 (4-2 CAA) on the season after defeating the Charleston Cougars, 69-60, this past Thursday. Northeastern was outstanding offensively in the 2nd half and was able to hang on late after a 22-6 Huskies run to start the 2nd half gave Northeastern a 45-29 lead with 16 minutes left in regulation. Northeastern shot 51.0% from the field and outrebounded Charleston by a 31-25 margin in the victory. Leading the way for the Huskies was Vasa Pusica who had 21 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals.

On the season, Northeastern is averaging 74.9 ppg on 48.7% shooting from the field. The Huskies are averaging 8.9 three-pointers per game on 37.6% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Northeastern has been led by Vasa Pusica (15.9 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 4.5 apg, 1.4 spg), Jordan Roland (14.5 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 1.6 apg, 1.4 spg), Donnell Gresham Jr. (10.4 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 3.4 apg, 1.3 spg), and Bolden Brace (9.4 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 2.6 apg).

The Seahawks are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a straight up loss, however, just 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a winning straight up record. The Huskies are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 games vs. a team with a losing straight up record.

UNC Wilmington has lost 8 of their last 11 games and although their offense is decent as they rank 107th in scoring offense & 81st in 3P-FG%, the Seahawks have really struggled defensively as they currently rank 336th in scoring defense and 296th in defensive FG%. Northeastern has won 5 of their last 7 games and have been led by their offense that ranks 150th in scoring offense, 28th in FG%, 54th in 3P-FG%, and 49th in FT%.

UNC Wilmington has a solid duo in Devontae Cacok & Jeantal Cylla, however, it’s going to be a challenge for the Seahawks to rack up victories while allowing their opponents to average 80+ points per game. Northeastern came into the season as one of the CAA favorites and have started to live up to that potential as of late with a blow victory at William & Mary and a solid 9-point went agianst Charleston. Northeastern is just 2-4-1 ATS at home this season however, Northeastern defeated by UNC Wilmington by 27 points at home last season and as I think the Huskies offense is going to have no problem putting up points against the Seahawks defense, I’m taking Northeastern to cover this spread.

Pick:
Northeastern Huskies -13
