The Northern Colorado Bears will travel to the J. Lawrence Walkup Skydome to take on the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks this Saturday night in College Basketball action.

The Northern Colorado Bears won their 2nd straight game and improved to 13-7 (7-2 Big Sky) on the season after defeating the Southern Utah Thunderbirds, 79-68, this past Thursday. Northern Colorado was outstanding on the defensive end against the Thunderbirds and had a comfortable lead throughout the 2nd half after taking a 37-22 halftime lead. Northern Colorado shot 51.0% from the field while holding Southern Utah to just 32.7% shooting from the field and 29.2% shooting from beyond the arc in the victory. Leading the way for the Bears was Jordan Davis who had 36 points, 6 rebounds, and 1 assist.

On the season, Northern Colorado is averaging 79.1 ppg on 46.7% shooting from the field. The Bears are averaging 9.8 three-pointers per game on 37.2% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Northern Colorado has been led by Jordan Davis (24.7 ppg, 5.1 rpg, 4.6 apg, 1.3 spg), Bodie Hume (12.2 ppg, 4.6 rpg, 1.3 bpg), Jonah Radebaugh (10.1 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 2.2 apg), and Trent Harris (9.3 ppg, 1.9 rpg).

Defensively, Northern Colorado is allowing their opponents to average 71.8 ppg on 45.6% shooting from the field. The Bears have a rebound margin of 3.8 and a turnover margin of -0.3.

The Northern Arizona Lumberjacks snapped their 2-game losing streak and improved to 5-12 (3-4 Big Sky) on the season after defeating the Portland State Vikings, 82-75, this past Saturday. Northern Arizona was solid on the defensive end against the Vikings and was able to hold on late for the victory after taking a 70-56 lead with 4:17 left in regulation. Northern Arizona held Portland State to 38.8% shooting from the field, 27.3% from beyond the arc, and forced the Vikings into committing 23 turnovers in the victory. Leading the way for the Lumberjacks was Jonathan Andre who had 21 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals.

On the season, Northern Arizona is averaging 72.2 ppg on 43.3% shooting from the field. The Lumberjacks are averaging 8.2 three-pointers per game on 34.8% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Northern Arizona has been led by Bernie Andre (13.0 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 1.4 apg), Carlos Hines (12.4 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 3.4 apg, 1.6 spg), Ted McCree (11.8 ppg, 2.0 rpg), and Brooks DeBisschop (7.4 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 1.2 apg, 1.1 spg).

Defensively, Northern Arizona is allowing their opponents to average 78.3 ppg on 47.0% shooting from the field. The Lumberjacks have a rebound margin of -4.1 and a turnover margin of -0.8.

The Bears are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games and 13-4 ATS in their last 17 games vs. Big Sky opponents. The Lumberjacks are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 home games vs. a team with a winning road record, however, are just 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games following an ATS won.

Northern Colorado has won 3 of their last 5 games and although they have a solid offense that ranks 57th in scoring offense, the defense has been less than average as they currently rank 191st in scoring defense, 281st in defensive FG%, and 327th in steals per game. Northern Arizona has split their last six games and currently rank just 213th in scoring offense & 316th in scoring defense.

Northern Colorado has a great player in Jordan Davis and although the Lumberjacks are a tough game when they are at home, Northern Colorado has been solid ATS on the road this season and I think that the Bears will have another offense in this one to over this mid-range road spread.

Pick:
Northern Colorado Bears -5.5
