Northern Arizona Lumberjacks -1 O/U: 150.5
The Southern Utah Thunderbirds and the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks will meet up on the college basketball circuit Monday.
Southern Utah enters this game at 9-8 on the year. The Thunderbirds had a four-game win streak going versus Weber State, Northern Arizona, Portland State and Sacramento State but fell to Northern Colorado in their last outing.
In the loss to the Bears, Southern Utah’s lead scorer was Brandon Better, with 22 points and one assist. Also in double-figures for the Thunderbirds there were Harrison Butler (15 points) and Maizen Fausett (10 points).
Over on the Northern Arizona side, they’re 5-13 this season. The Lumberjacks are just 1-3 over their last four games, taking out Portland State and falling to Southern Utah, Sacramento State and Northern Colorado in that time.
In their loss to the Bears, Northern Arizona was led by Carlos Hines on 15 points, five rebounds and one assist. The only other Lumberjacks player in double-figures there was Cameron Shelton with 10 points, four rebounds and two assists.
The Thunderbirds are 15-33-1 ATS in their last 49 following an ATS loss and 1-5 ATS in their last six road games. Southern Utah is also 0-8 ATS in their last eight road games and the over is 8-2 in their last 10 versus the Big Sky.
Meanwhile, the Lumberjacks are 4-0 ATS in their last four following an ATS loss and 5-2 ATS in their last seven following a straight-up loss. Northern Arizona is 1-8 ATS in their last nine versus a team with a winning straight-up record and the under is 5-2 in their last seven overall.
Last time these two teams met was back on January 12, and it was a pretty back-and-forth game the whole way, ending with an 84-82 Thunderbirds win. Normally in a situation like that I’d be more prone to take the home team—the Lumberjacks in this case—and expect another matchup similar in scoring and spread.
That said, Northern Arizona has had some scoring duds over their last few games that have me second-guessing going that particular route; I just don’t think they can keep up with Southern Utah in a normal outing. I’m going to take the Thunderbirds on the win/cover here.
