The Idaho Vandals snapped their 6-game losing steak and improved to 4-10 (1-2 Big Sky) on the season after defeating the Eastern Washington Eagles, 74-71, this past Thursday. Idaho shot 50.0% from the field and 52.6% from beyond the arc in the victory. Leading the way for the Vandals was Trevon Allen who had 25 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.
On the season, Idaho is averaging 72.6 ppg on 45.7% shooting from the field. The Vandals are averaging 7.6 three-pointers per game on 35.2% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Idaho has been led by Trevon Allen (14.7 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 3.0 apg, 1.0 spg), Cameron Tyson (14.4 ppg, 1.8 rpg), Marquell Fraser (9.6 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 3.1 apg, 1.1 spg), and Jared Rodriguez (9.6 ppg, 5.9 rpg).
Defensively, Idaho is allowing their opponents to average 73.9 ppg on 42.7% shooting from the field. The Vandals have a rebound margin of 0.5 and a turnover margin of -3.1.
The Northern Colorado Bears won their 2nd straight game and improved to 8-5 (2-0 Big Sky) on the season after defeating the Portland State Vikings, 73-60, this past Monday. Northern Colorado was solid on the defensive end against the Vikings and pulled away after a 13-3 Bears run to start the 2nd half gave Northern Colorado a 42-32 lead with 14:54 left in regulation. Northern Colorado held Portland State to 37.3% shooting from the field and committed just 9 turnovers in the victory. Leading the way for the Bears was Jordan Davis who had 27 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and a steal.
On the season, Northern Colorado is averaging 82.0 ppg on 47.7% shooting from the field. The Bears are averaging 10.8 three-pointers per game on 39.0% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Northern Colorado has been led by Jordan Davis (24.5 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 4.6 apg, 1.2 spg), Bodie Hume (11.8 ppg, 4.4 rpg), Trent Harris (11.2 ppg, 1.9 rpg), and Jonah Radebaugh (11.1 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 2.0 apg).
Defensively, Northern Colorado is allowing their opponents to an average of 72.1 ppg on 45.6% shooting from the field. The Bears have a rebound margin of 5.7 and a turnover margin of -0.9.
The Vandals are 3-11 ATS in their last 14 games overall and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games. The Bears are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games vs. Big Sky opponents and 20-8-1 ATS in their last 29 games following a ATS win.
Idaho was able to pick up a much needed win, however, it looks like it’s going to be a tough season for the Vandals as they currently rank just T-220th in scoring offense & T-235th in scoring defense. Northern Colorado has rebounded from a tough 4-game losing streak to win their last two games and comes into this game with a dangerous offense that ranks T-43rd in scoring offense & 61st in FG%.
Idaho has just two wins agianst D-I teams this season and between the fact that I don’t think the Vandals have an answer for the Bears Jordan Davis and that Northern Colorado is 3-0 at home this season, I think Northern Colorado does enough to cover this double-digit spread. Good Luck!
